The Gamble (1971 Film)
The Gamble is a 1971 Iranian film directed by Zakaria Hashemi. Plot Borzou is an expert at gambling and spends most of his life getting a fortune by gambling and stealing. He marries a woman named Maryam (Morvarid) and continues his lifestyle of gambling despite being married. He prioritizes his friends Ali Tatar ( Bahman Mofid) and Khalife ( Hassan Khayat Bashi) over his wife. Soon, he gets into more dangerous crime with criminals like Assadollah Mir Ghazal ( Hossein Gale), Mahmoud the Escaper ( Shahrouz Ramtin), Hossein Joo Joo ( Ahmad Hashemi). Maryam is unhappy and begs him to give his crime life up to care for their unborn child. He agrees but this does not last long. Ali Tatar asks Borzou to help him get money for his sister's dowry. He realizes that he has to gamble again to raise the money. Zakaria Hashemi
Zakaria Hashemi ( fa, زکریا هاشمی; born in 1936 in Rey, Tehran Province, Iran) is an Iranian actor and film director. Early life Hashemi spent his childhood in southern Tehran. Career He has acted in several films including '' The Night of the Hunchback,'' '' The Brick and the Mirror''. He also directed some films, like '' The Gamble''. Bahman Mofid ( fa, بهمن مفید; 27 July 1942 – 16 August 2020) was an Iranian actor. Biography Bahman Mofid was born in Garakan, a village near Arak, to father Gholam-Hossein Mofid a stage director and actor. His siblings included Bijan Mofid, a playwright; Ardavan Mofid, an actor; and sister Hengameh Mofid, a poet and songwriter. He started acting in childhood, under the direction of his father.
