The Flame (student Publication)
''The Flame'' (''AB The Flame'', ''The Flame'', or ''F'') is the official student publication of the University of Santo Tomas Faculty of Arts and Letters, University of Santo Tomas Faculty of Arts and Letters (UST AB). Founded in October 1964 under the leadership of Rey Datu, it provides news to the Artlet community of the university. The lampoon issue is called ''The Phlegm''. The publication comprises eight sections: news, special reports, sports, features, culture, literature, perspectives, and art. ''The Flame'' also publishes the literary portfolio ''Dapitan'', named after Dapitan Street at the north side of the college. ''The'' () is a grammatical article in English, denoting persons or things that are already or about to be mentioned, under discussion, implied or otherwise presumed familiar to listeners, readers, or speakers. It is the definite article in English. ''The'' is the most frequently used word in the English language; studies and analyses of texts have found it to account for seven percent of all printed English-language words. Bong Osorio
Ramon "Bong" Osorio (November 5, 1953 – April 30, 2020) was a Filipino media executive and communication professor at the University of Santo Tomas Faculty of Arts and Letters. He served as Vice President of ABS-CBN for Corporate Communications. Osorio was President of the Public Relations Society of the Philippines and Council Member of the National Council for Children’s Television. Early years and education Osorio finished his basic education from Paco Catholic School and pursued a communication degree from University of Santo Tomas Faculty of Arts and Letters graduating in 1974. Osorio was a student leader, being a member of his faculty's newspaper The Flame and the university student publication The Varsitarian. Philippine Bar Examinations
The Philippine Bar Examination is the professional licensure examination for lawyers in the Philippines. The exam is exclusively administered by the Supreme Court of the Philippines through the Supreme Court Bar Examination Committee. Brief history The first Philippine Bar Exams was conducted in 1901 with only 13 examinees. The third Philippine Bar Exam took place in 1903 but the results were released in 1905. José I. Quintos obtained the highest rating of 96.33%, Sergio Osmeña, Sr. was second with 95.66%, F. Salas was third with 94.5% and Manuel L. Quezon fourth with 87.83%. The first bar exam in 1901 has only 13 examinees, while the 2008 bar examination is the 107th (given per Article 8, Section 5, 1987 Constitution). After the 1903 exam, rankings were again avoided until the 1913 exam, which meant that every other year from the inaugural 1901 examination to 1912 no scores were given other than pass or fail. ''i-Witness'', formerly ''i-Witness: The GMA Documentaries'' is a Philippine television documentary show broadcast by GMA Network and GMA News TV. Originally hosted by Vicky Morales, Luchi Cruz-Valdes, Mike Enriquez, Cheche Lazaro and Jessica Soho, it premiered on January 18, 1999. It is the longest-running documentary program in Philippine television. The show concluded on GMA Network on April 29, 2020. Sandra Aguinaldo (born April 29, 1975) is a Filipina television news anchor journalist, writer and documentarian. She is best known as one of the news reporters of ''24 Oras'' and one of the hosts of ''I-Witness''. Ophelia Dimalanta
Ophelia Alcantara Dimalanta (June 16, 1932 – November 4, 2010) was a Filipina poet, editor, author, and teacher. One of the country's most respected writers, Dimalanta published several books of poetry, criticism, drama, and prose and edited various literary anthologies. 1992 Philippine Presidential Election
The 1992 Philippine presidential and vice presidential elections were held on May 11, 1992. This was the first general election held under the 1987 Constitution. An estimated 80,000 candidates ran for 17,000 posts from the presidency down to municipal councilors. The new constitution limited the president to a single six-year term with no possibility of reelection, even if nonsuccessive. Although some of President Corazon Aquino's advisers suggested that she could run for a second term, as she was sworn in before the 1987 Constitution took effect, Aquino did not run again.
