Alan James (March 23, 1890 – December 30, 1952) was an American film director and screenwriter. He directed more than 70 films between 1916 and 1943. He also wrote for more than 60 films between 1916 and 1951. He was born in Port Townsend, Washington, and died in Hollywood, California. Franklyn Farnum
Franklyn Farnum (born William Smith; June 5, 1878 – July 4, 1961) was an American character actor and Hollywood extra who appeared in at least 1,100 films. He was also cast in more films that won the Academy Award for Best Picture than any other performer in American film industry. He was also credited as Frank Farnum. Life and career Farnum was born in 1878 in Boston, Massachusetts, and became a vaudeville actor at the age of twelve. He was featured in a number of theatrical and musical productions by the time he entered silent films near the age of 40. His Broadway credits include ''Keep It Clean'' (1929), ''Ziegfeld 9 O'clock Frolic'' (1921), ''Ziegfeld Midnight Frolic'' (1921), and ''Somewhere Else'' (1913). Farnum's career was dominated mostly by westerns. Fred Gamble (actor)
Fred Gamble (born Fred Alvin Gambold, October 26, 1868 – February 17, 1939) was an American film actor. He appeared in more than 130 films between 1913 and 1928. He was sometimes billed as Fred Gambold. Biography Gamble was born in Indianapolis, Indiana. At age 15, he left his home to join a minstrel show, beginning his career as an entertainer. He performed in vaudeville as a member of the Queen City Four and acted in stock theater. In 1912 he became a part of the American Film Company. On February 17, 1939, Gamble died in Hollywood, California, at 70. Pat Harmon
Plummer Hull Harman (February 3, 1886 – November 26, 1958), known professionally as Pat Harmon, was an American film actor. He appeared in more than 130 films between 1920 and 1947. In 1935, Harmon was the victim of a violent assault which resulted in serious facial injuries, and on August 29, 1935, he was sentenced to serve two-to-10 years in Folsom Prison after being found guilty of stealing a horse. After the incidents involved, Harmon's film career ended as he never appeared on screen again. He was born in Lewistown, Illinois and died in Riverside, California. William Berke
William A. Berke (born October 3, 1903 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin – died February 15, 1958 in Los Angeles, California) was an American film director, producer, actor and screenwriter. He wrote, directed, and/or produced some 200 films over a three-decade career. Biography Berke broke into motion pictures in 1922 as a writer for silent westerns. For these assignments he used the pseudonym "William Lester." In the early 1930s he formed a partnership with independent producer Bernard B. Ray to make feature films at Ray's Reliable Pictures studio, next door to the Columbia Pictures studio. Berke, now using his own name for screen credits, was equally capable making comedies, mysteries, action adventures, and westerns. In 1942 he joined Columbia, at first directing that studio's Charles Starrett and Russell Hayden westerns, and then branching out into more mainstream fare.
