''The Feel Good Record of the Year'' is the eighth and final studio album by punk rock band No Use for a Name. It was recorded in Fort Collins, Colorado at the Blasting Room with the producers Bill Stevenson & Jason Livermore (Descendents, Rise Against, Good Riddance, 7 Seconds). Release On January 20, 2008, ''The Feel Good Record of the Year'' was announced for release in three months' time, followed by the track listing three days later. In February and March 2008, the band appeared on the Fat Tour, alongside NOFX and the Flatliners. On February 25, 2008, "Biggest Lie" was posted on the band's Myspace profile, followed by "I Want to Be Wrong" on March 24, 2008. No Use For A Name
No Use for a Name (sometimes abbreviated NUFAN or No Use) was an American punk rock band from Sunnyvale, California, United States formed in 1986 by Chris Dodge (guitar), Steve Papoutsis ( bass) and Rory Koff (drums). The band's sound evolved considerably through its career, starting off as a Bay Area-influenced punk band, moving on to a much heavier metallic-tinted sound to finally taking on a much lighter brand of melodic punk as the years passed. The band's career ended in 2012 following Tony Sly's death on July 31 of that year. History No Use For a Name was formed in 1986 by longtime friends Dodge, Papoutsis and Koff. The early rehearsals of the band had taken place at a warehouse in Sunnyvale owned by Koff's father, where they also came up with the name for the band. The Descendents are an American punk rock band formed in 1977 in Manhattan Beach, California, by guitarist Frank Navetta, bassist Tony Lombardo and drummer Bill Stevenson. In 1979, they enlisted Stevenson's school friend Milo Aukerman as a singer, and reappeared as a punk rock band, becoming a major player in the hardcore punk scene developing in Los Angeles at the time. Anthony James Sly (November 4, 1970 – July 31, 2012) was an American singer, songwriter and guitarist, best known as the front man of the punk rock band No Use for a Name. In his later years he also gained attention for his acoustic solo work, with two acoustic split albums he released with Lagwagon front man Joey Cape and two solo albums. Biography Tony Sly attended Homestead High School in Cupertino, California. He was married to Brigitte Sly and had two daughters, Fiona Sly and Keira Sly. Professional career Tony Sly joined No Use for a Name as lead guitarist in 1986. He later took on vocal duties full-time in 1989 when previous vocalist Chris Dodge left the band. Useless ID ( he, יוסלס איי.די) is an Israeli punk rock band, formed in Haifa, Israel in 1994. Known as one of the most successful Middle Eastern punk bands worldwide. History Useless ID was founded in 1994 as a four-piece: Guy Carmel - vocal and guitar, Ralf Hober - drums, Adi Elkabets - lead guitar, Nadav Elkabets - Bass. At its first years, the band was mainly active in the Israeli punk scene, and released two studio albums independently, on its own label "Falafel Records", named after band member's favorite food, the falafel. Pulley is an American, California-based punk rock band, formed in 1994. The band is known for straightforward, hard-edged melodic punk rock. Band history The band was formed upon vocalist Scott Radinsky's departure from Ten Foot Pole, brought about by that band's desire for a singer with a full-time focus on music (Radinsky was also a major-league relief pitcher and has played for the Los Angeles Dodgers, among others). Pulley's initial lineup included Strung Out drummer Jordan Burns, guitarist Jim Cherry (former bassist of Strung Out and, later, Zero Down), guitarist Mike Harder, and former Face to Face bassist Matt Riddle. American Steel
American Steel is an American punk rock band formed in 1995 in Oakland, California. When offered their first show, the group took their name from the block-long sign on the warehouse across the street. After playing at parties and smaller venues around the Bay Area for over a year, and undergoing several lineup changes, the band bought a van and embarked on their first tour of the US, lasting 32 days and covering 12,000 miles. After returning from tour, American Steel recorded their eponymous first album for San Francisco's New Disorder Records. In the spring of 1999, American Steel signed to Lookout! and released ''Rogue's March'' in October 1999. The Flatliners are a Canadian punk rock band from Richmond Hill, Ontario. Since their formation in 2002, the band has been a growing influence in the Toronto punk/ska movement, with consistently well-received albums and live shows. History The band self-released its debut album, '' Destroy to Create'' in 2005; after signing to Stomp Records, it was reissued on July 19, 2005. It saw the band mix punk rock with ska, and was promoted with a Canadian tour. In March and April 2006, the band went on the Frostbite Tour alongside Death by Stereo, Bigwig, and Big D and the Kids Table. They appeared at the Ska Weekend festival at the end of April 2006. NOFX
NOFX () is an American punk rock band formed in Los Angeles, California in 1983. Vocalist/bassist Fat Mike, guitarist Eric Melvin and drummer Erik Sandin are original founding and longest-serving members of the band, who have appeared on every release of the band, although Sandin departed briefly in 1985, only to rejoin the following year. El Hefe joined the band in 1991 to play lead guitar and trumpet, rounding out the current line-up. NOFX's mainstream success coincided with increased interest in punk rock during the 1990s, though, unlike many of their contemporaries (including Bad Religion, Green Day, and The Offspring), they have never been signed to a major label.
