The Englishman Of The Bones (film)
''The Englishman of the Bones'' (Spanish:''El inglés de los güesos'') is a 1940 Argentine drama film based on a novel of the same name. Production The 79-minute black and white drama was directed for Lumiton by Carlos Hugo Christensen. Christiansen (1914–1999) was a poet, short story writer, journalist and playwright who became an assistant film director in 1939. This was one of the first films where he was credited as director. The script was written by Christensen based on the novel of the same name written by Benito Lynch. Music was by George Andreani and cinematography by José María Beltrán. It was released in Argentina on 4 September 1940. The film ''El inglés de los güesos'' starred Arturo García Buhr, Anita Jordán and Pedro Maratea. Carlos Hugo Christensen
Carlos Hugo Christensen (Santiago del Estero, 15 December 1914 – Rio de Janeiro, 30 November 1999) was an Argentina, Argentine film director, screenwriter and film producer. He was of Danes, Danish descent through his paternal side. Christensen directed fifty-four feature films some of which are considered masterpieces of what is known as the Argentine golden era of cinema. ''Si Muero antes de despertar'' (''If I Should Die Before I Wake'') and ''No abras nunca esa puerta'' (''Never Open That Door''), were part of a retrospective at the Museum of Modern Art in New York in 2016. Tito Alonso (1926–1979) was an Argentine film actor. Career Alonso entered film in 1940 at the age of 14 in ''El Inglés de los güesos'' In 1947 he appeared in ''A sangre fría''. Alonso worked consistently in Argentine film throughout the 1950s, 60s and 1970s appearing in the 1964 popular film ''Aconcagua'' amongst many others. Alonso also appeared in the 1974 film '' Agentes Secretos Contra Guante Verde''. He made a number of appearances on TV in Argentina in the late 1960s and 1970s until his premature death in 1979 aged 53. Benito Lynch (25 July 1885 - 23 December 1951) was an Argentine novelist and short story writer. Biography Lynch was born in Buenos Aires. He came from a family of Irish origin who settled in the Río de la Plata region since the 18th century. They were descendants of Patrick Lynch from Galway. He spent his childhood and adolescence on the large country estate of his grandfather Ventura Lynch. After the estate was sold, the family settled in La Plata, the newly built capital of the Buenos Aires Province. Lynch was a lifelong recluse à la Emily Dickinson, living all his life with two unmarried sisters in a large old house in La Plata. Lumiton is a former film production company and current museum located in Munro, Buenos Aires, Argentina. Lumiton Studios was founded in 1932 at the start of the golden age of film in that country. Its lowbrow, populist films appealed to local audiences and were highly successful in Argentina and throughout Latin America. It was the main competitor to Argentina Sono Film in the 1940s. After World War II (1939–45) Lumiton faced increased government regulation, rising costs and loss of audiences to more sophisticated Hollywood productions. The company was forced to shut down in 1952. History Beginning Lumiton was founded in the town of Munro, Buenos Aires, with an initial capital of 300,000 pesos.
