The Devil In Love (film)
''The Devil in Love'' (Italian: ''L'arcidiavolo'') is a 1966 Italian fantasy-comedy film. It stars Vittorio Gassman and Gabriele Ferzetti. It is loosely based on the tale '' Belfagor arcidiavolo'' by Niccolò Machiavelli. Synopsis The new peace between Rome and Florence worries Ades in hell, who anticipates a reduction in the number of damned souls with the cease fire. He decides to send on Earth among the mortals his archdevil Beelphegor, disguised as a human and assisted by the invisible lower demon Adrammelech, to sabotage the peace and renew hostilities between the Pope and the Signoria. Ettore Scola
Ettore Scola (; 10 May 1931 – 19 January 2016) was an Italian screenwriter and film director. He received a Golden Globe for Best Foreign Film in 1978 for his film ''A Special Day'' and over the course of his film career was nominated for five Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film. Life and career Scola was born in Trevico, Avellino, Campania. From age 15, he became a ghostwriter. He entered the film industry as a screenwriter in 1953, and collaborated with director Dino Risi and fellow writer Ruggero Maccari on the screenplay for Risi's feature, ''Il Sorpasso'' (1962). He directed his first film, ''Let's Talk About Women'', in 1964. In 1974 Scola enjoyed international success with '' We All Loved Each Other So Much'' (''C'eravamo tanto amati''), a wide fresco of post-World War II Italian life and politics, dedicated to fellow director Vittorio De Sica. Pope Leo X ( it, Leone X; born Giovanni di Lorenzo de' Medici, 11 December 14751 December 1521) was head of the Catholic Church and ruler of the Papal States from 9 March 1513 to his death in December 1521. Born into the prominent political and banking Medici family of Republic of Florence, Florence, Giovanni was the second son of Lorenzo de' Medici, ruler of the Florentine Republic, and was elevated to the Cardinal (Catholicism), cardinalate in 1489. Clarice Orsini (1453–1488) was the daughter of Iacopo Orsini, and his wife and cousin Maddalena Orsini both from the Orsini family, a great Roman noble house and was the wife of Lorenzo de' Medici. Life Clarice and Lorenzo married 4 June 1469, with a four-day celebration. The marriage was arranged by Lorenzo's mother Lucrezia Tornabuoni, who wanted her eldest son to marry a woman from a noble family to enhance the social status of the Medicis. Their marriage was unusual for Florence at the time in that they were nearly the same age. Clarice's dowry was 6,000 florins. Ettore Manni (6 May 1927 – 27 July 1979) was an Italian film actor. He appeared in more than 100 films between 1952 and 1979.
