"The Day the Rains Came" or "Am Tag als der Regen kam" or "La pioggia cadrà" is an adaptation of the French song "Le jour où la pluie viendra". The latter is a Popular music, popular song released in 1957, composed and written by Gilbert Bécaud and Pierre Delanoë. Bécaud's version reached #3 in Wallonia, in a tandem ranking, and #20 in Flanders. In the United Kingdom, an English version by Jane Morgan went to number one in 1958. That version also reached #4 in Canada and #7 in Norway. In US, Raymond Lefèvre was first to release the song but only as instrumental under the English name. Lefèvre, Morgan and Dalida were tandemly ranked #14 (Billboard chart, Billboard) and #17 (Cashbox (magazine), Cash Box), while Lefèvre's and Morgan's versions were marked as bestsellers on both charts (Dalida never recorded the song in English, only her French language original was released in US under the English name). Gilbert Bécaud
Gilbert Bécaud (, 24 October 1927 – 18 December 2001) was a French singer, composer, pianist and actor, known as "Monsieur 100,000 Volts" for his energetic performances. His best-known hits are " Nathalie" and "Et maintenant", a 1961 release that became an English language hit as " What Now My Love". He remained a popular artist for nearly fifty years, identifiable in his dark blue suits, with a white shirt and "lucky tie"; blue with white polka dots. When asked to explain his gift he said, "A flower doesn't understand botany." His favourite venue was the Paris Olympia under the management of Bruno Coquatrix. He debuted there in 1954 and headlined in 1955, attracting 6,000 on his first night, three times the capacity. On 13 November 1997, Bécaud was present for the re-opening of the venue after its reconstruction. "Gondolier" is a song by the French singer Dalida, first released on EP in December 1957. It was her second major hit after " Bambino". Reaching No. 1 on both the La Bourse des Chansons chart and the Music Hall chart in France, it was the title song for Dalida's 1958 album ''Gondolier''. The song also reached No. 1 on the Belgian and Canadian charts. Description The song's melody was composed by Peter De Angelis with lyrics by Jean Broussolle. It was released as promotional single on February 22, 1957, but it received no promotion because of the prolonged success of "Bambino". Anita Traversi (25 July 1937 – 25 September 1991) was a Swiss singer, best known for her participation in the Eurovision Song Contests of 1960 and 1964. Early career Born in Giubiasco, Traversi was encouraged by her father, a musician, and started singing with an orchestra in the mid-1950s, including with the orchestra of the Italian language Swiss radio channel. Roberta Corti, better known by her stage name Betty Curtis (21 March 1936 – 15 June 2006), was an Italian singer active from 1957 to 2004. Curtis grew up in the Zone 8 of Milan's borough Cagnola. Guylaine Guy (born Guylaine Chailler; April 6, 1929) is a Canadian singer and painter from Montreal, Quebec. Biography Guy debuted in Montreal cabarets. She sang at the Faisan Doré in 1950 and in 1952 was elected Miss Radio-TV by Radiomonde. She worked in Montreal cabarets for several years, often with Jacques Normand and Gilles Pellerin.
