''The Dancer's Peril'' is a 1917 American silent film, silent romance film directed by Travers Vale and starring Alice Brady, Philip Hahn and Harry Benham. Its plotline features the Ballets Russes, then appearing in a show by the Shubert Brothers, major backers of World Film.Koszarski p.66 The film still survives, unlike many others from the era. Travers Vale (31 January 1865 – 10 January 1927) was an English-born silent film film director, director. He directed more than 70 films between 1910 and 1926. He was born in Liverpool and died in Hollywood, California from cancer. Travers Vale's actual birth name was Solomon Flohm, son of Joseph Flohm and Esther Flegeltaub who were both Russian Polish Jews who had emigrated to the UK during the Crimean War. Biography Soon after Solomon's birth, they set sail to Australia on the SS Great Britain with other family members and ended up settling in Ballarat, Victoria although had spent time prior to this in Sandhurst [Bendigo, Victoria] and Pleasant Creek [Stawell, Victoria]. Travers Vale [Solomon Flohm] married his first cousin, Leah Flegeltaub [daughter of Esther's brother Aaron] on 24 July 1893 in Ballarat, Victoria, Australia. Sidney D'Albrook (May 3, 1886 – May 30, 1948) was an American actor. He was born in Chicago, Illinois, a son of Harry Dahlbruck, a musician, and Jennie McGuire. He was working as an actor in Davenport, Iowa, in 1910, living with his sister Ruth and his mother Jennie. He did films in New York in the teens, and then they moved to Hollywood in 1920. At this point his brother Hal or Harold lived with them for a time. He worked in films until his death, did many character parts. His sister Ruth was an extra in movies and in the television series ''Gunsmoke'' and ''Garrison's Gorillas''. Sid's large collection of movie material was donated to the County of Los Angeles Hollywood Museum after his death by his sister Ruth, in 1962.
