The Crew (2008 Film)
''The Crew'' is a 2008 British crime film based on the 2001 novel ''Outlaws'' by Kevin Sampson. It is set in the criminal underworld of Northern England especially Liverpool, Merseyside. Synopsis As a major heist approaches and with betrayal all around him, respected crime boss Ged Brennan has to summon all his street nous and killer instinct as he fights for survival. Plot Gerard (Ged) Brennan and his crew are hijacking a truck, only to find it is a dummy truck that is empty to ward of hijackers for that very purpose. The next morning, the radio news announces that a "business-man" named Leo Murphy, aka Leo the Pig, is found naked and killed on a boat out at sea. Even though the truck heist was a dud, Ged still has to pay his crew so that they don't go work for other competitors; this causes a strain on his marriage with his wife Debbie. Eddie Cochran
Ray Edward Cochran (; October 3, 1938 – April 17, 1960) was an American rock and roll musician. Cochran's songs, such as "Twenty Flight Rock", "Summertime Blues", " C'mon Everybody" and " Somethin' Else", captured teenage frustration and desire in the mid-1950s and early 1960s. He experimented with multitrack recording, distortion techniques, and overdubbing even on his earliest singles. He played the guitar, piano, bass, and drums. His image as a sharply dressed and attractive young man with a rebellious attitude epitomized the stance of the 1950s rocker, and in death he achieved iconic status. Cochran was involved with music from an early age, playing in the school band and teaching himself to play blues guitar. In 1954, he formed a duet with the guitarist Hank Cochran (no relation). The Jive Bombers were an American R&B group from New York City. The Jive Bombers consisted of members of two previous vocal groups, Sonny Austin & the Jive Bombers and The Palmer Brothers. They first recorded under the name The Sparrows in 1949 for Coral Records, and changed their name to The Jive Bombers in 1952 to record for Citation Records. Their 1957 Savoy Records single " Bad Boy", co-written by Avon Long and Lil Hardin, was a hit in the U.S., peaking at No. 7 on the R&B Singles chart and No. 36 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100. Electrelane
Electrelane were an English indie rock band, formed in Brighton in 1998 by Verity Susman and Emma Gaze. The band comprised Susman, Gaze, Mia Clarke, and Ros Murray. Their music drew from a wide range of influences including Neu!, Stereolab, Sonic Youth, and the Velvet Underground. Although the band had strong feminist and political views in their personal lives, they generally preferred to not communicate that directly to their fans or through their music; one exception is their inclusion of the protest song "The Partisan," which they began playing while on tour in the United States during the months preceding the 2004 Presidential election. The Jam were an English mod revival/ punk rock band formed in 1972 at Sheerwater Secondary School in Woking, Surrey. "Town Called Malice" is a song recorded by British band the Jam from the album '' The Gift''. It debuted at number one on the UK Singles Chart in February 1982. Overview The title is a play on words of the 1950 Nevil Shute novel ''A Town Like Alice'', although Paul Weller says he had not read the book at the time. It was a double A-side single release featuring " Precious" as the flip side. A 12" version was also available with a live version of "Town Called Malice" backed by an extended version of "Precious". Paul Weller has said that it was written about his hometown Woking as a result of his teenage experiences there. Kate Walsh (born 20 February 1983) is an English singer from Burnham-on-Crouch, Essex, England. A graduate of the Brighton Institute of Modern Music, she released her first album, ''Clocktower Park'' (produced by Lee Russell), in 2003 by Kitchenware Records. My Drug Hell are a British rock band. Their current line up is vocals and guitarist Tim Briffa, bass Harry Stam, drums Steve Jones. Career After a brief stint in the band Chelsea, Tim Briffa formed the Atomic Vicars with Paul Donnelly on bass and Chris Argyrou on drums. They released one 7" single after which Argyrou left to be replaced by Joe Bultitude. Soon after they changed their name to My Drug Hell (a reference to an over-used tabloid headline.) Debut single "Girl at the Bus Stop" was released in the UK by Diversity where it spent several weeks in the Melody Maker/NME independent charts, becoming Single Of the Week on Radio 1's Evening Session as well as several shows on XFM and GLR. The La's
The La's were an English rock band from Liverpool, originally active from 1983 until 1992. Fronted by singer, songwriter and guitarist Lee Mavers, the group are best known for their hit single " There She Goes". The band was formed by Mike Badger in 1983 and Mavers joined the next year, although for most of the group's history, the frequently changing line-up revolved around the core duo of Lee Mavers (vocals, guitar) and John Power (bass, backing vocals) along with numerous other guitarists and drummers including Paul Hemmings, John "Timmo" Timson, Peter "Cammy" Cammell, Iain Templeton, John "Boo" Byrne, Chris Sharrock, Barry Sutton and Neil Mavers. Ocean Colour Scene (often abbreviated to OCS) are an English Rock music, rock band formed in Solihull in 1989. They have had five top 10 albums including a number one in 1997. They have also achieved seventeen top 40 singles and six top 10 singles to date.
