The Continental (1952 TV Series)
''The Continental'' is an American television series that aired on CBS in 1952. It starred Renzo Cesana in the title role. The 15-minute program was shown on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 11:15pm, at the end of the night's prime time schedule. Synopsis The series used a subjective camera, as Cesana spoke directly to women in the viewing audience in a suave manner, with each episode a different romantic rendezvous, accompanied by lounge music played by Eddie Baxter on an electronic organ. Occasionally, Cesana would recite the lyrics to a song. In an era when advertisers and advertising agencies played major roles in program creation and sponsorship, the show began as a syndicated 15-minute radio show created, written and produced by agency owner Cesana on Los Angeles station KHJ in February 1951. It directly followed ''The Lonesome Gal'', a nationally syndicated radio show in which host Jean King played records and spoke in a soothing monologue to male listeners. ''The Continent ...

The Continental (Saturday Night Live)
"The Continental" is a recurring sketch on ''Saturday Night Live'' (SNL) featuring Christopher Walken. The first sketch aired on the eleventh episode of the fifteenth season, January 20, 1990. History It is a parody of Renzo Cesana, who starred in a 1952–1953 CBS series, '' The Continental''. The series used a subjective camera, and Cesana spoke directly to women in the viewing audience. Cesana's show was subjected to many parodies, including ''Mad'' magazine's "The Countynental" (which was also the name used in a parody by Ernie Kovacs), Red Skelton's "The Transcontinental", and Floyd Vivino's "Ricardo Romantico." The premise of the ''SNL'' sketch is that Walken is a "suave ladies' man" who in reality can't say or do anything to keep women from giving him the cold shoulder, typically due to a number of perverse actions that often border on sexual predation. For instance, he invites a woman to wash up in his bathroom. Once she is inside, it becomes obvious that the bathroo ...

List Of United States Supreme Court Cases, Volume 81
This is a list of cases reported in volume 81 (14 Wall.) of ''United States Reports'', decided by the Supreme Court of the United States in 1872, along with a case from 1870 and a case from 1871. Nominative reports In 1874, the U.S. government created the ''United States Reports'', and retroactively numbered older privately published case reports as part of the new series. As a result, cases appearing in volumes 1–90 of ''U.S. Reports'' have dual citation forms; one for the volume number of ''U.S. Reports'', and one for the volume number of the reports named for the relevant reporter of decisions (these are called " nominative reports"). John William Wallace Starting with the 66th volume of ''U.S. Reports'', the Reporter of Decisions of the Supreme Court of the United States was John William Wallace. Wallace was Reporter of Decisions from 1863 to 1874, covering volumes 68 through 90 of ''United States Reports'' which correspond to volumes 1 through 23 of his ''Wallace ...

Love Symbol Album
''Love Symbol'' is the fourteenth studio album by American recording artist Prince, and the second of two that featured his backing band the New Power Generation. It was released on October 13, 1992, by Paisley Park Records and Warner Bros. Records. It was originally conceived as a "fantasy rock soap opera" with various spoken segues throughout (with its storyline becoming the basis for Prince's direct-to-video film '' 3 Chains o' Gold''), and contains elements of R&B, funk, pop, rock, and soul. The official title of the album is an unpronounceable symbol depicted on its cover art, which Prince copyrighted under the title "Love Symbol #2", and adopted as his stage name from 1993 to 2000 to protest his treatment by Warner Bros. Records (which had refused to steadily release his back catalog of unreleased music, and trademarked his given name for promotional purposes). The release has been referred to under titles such as ''Love Symbol'', ''Symbol Album'', or ''Symbol''. Its fi ...

Hook Continental
''The Hook Continental'' was a passenger train running between London's Liverpool Street Station and Harwich Parkeston Quay where it connected with the night ferry sailing to the Hook of Holland in the Netherlands. It was introduced as a named express by the London and North Eastern Railway (LNER) in 1927, and was part of the marketing strategy pushing the concept of almost seamless travel from London overnight to numerous European destinations utilising the company's own ships and the rail connections from the Hook of Holland. Early ferry services The promotion of Harwich as a good railhead for ferry services across the North Sea dates back to the Eastern Counties Railway and from 1869 the Great Eastern Railway (GER) advertised using its services from Liverpool Street to Harwich in conjunction with a ferry service as ''"The shortest, cheapest, and most direct route"'' to a selection of northern European countries, and offered through tickets.
