The Comeback (2010 Film)
''The Comeback'' (french: Cabotins) is a Canadian comedy film, directed by Alain DesRochers and released in 2010.Charles-Henri Ramond"Cabotins – Film d’Alain Desrochers" ''Films du Québec'', June 23, 2010. Set in 1985, the film stars Rémy Girard as Marcel Lajoie, a failing producer of theatrical variety shows who decides to bring his old troupe together for a reunion show. The cast includes Pierre-François Legendre, Gaston Lepage, Gilles Renaud, Dorothée Berryman, Yves Jacques, Louis Morissette and Guy Nadon. The film opened in theatres in July 2010. Berryman won the Jutra Award for Best Supporting Actress at the 13th Jutra Awards. The film was also nominated for Best Art Direction, Best Costume Design, Best Hair and Best Sound. |
Alain DesRochers
Alain DesRochers is a Canadian film director and screenwriter. DesRochers studied first at St-Jean-Sur-Richelieu College in the early 1980s and then at Concordia University earning himself a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at the end of the decade. He began his career by directing music videos and television commercials. He got his big break directing several episodes of the TV series '' The Hunger''. His first feature film ''La Bouteille'' (2000) earned him a nomination for the Genie Award for Best Achievement in Direction. His second feature, the action film ''Nitro'', was very successful at the Quebec box office and beat out several American blockbusters in its opening weekend. 13th Jutra Awards
The 13th Jutra Awards were held on March 13, 2011 to honour films made with the participation of the Quebec film industry in 2010. Nominations were announced on February 9.Marc Cassivi"Soirée des Jutra: Incendies, favori d'un cru relevé" '' La Presse'', February 9, 2011. The ceremony was dominated by Denis Villeneuve's ''Incendies'' which received eleven nominations in ten categories.
