The Code (Nemo Song)
"The Code" is a song by Swiss singer Nemo (singer), Nemo. It was written by Nemo along with three other songwriters, and was released on 29 February 2024 through Better Now Records. It in the Eurovision Song Contest 2024, where it won the contest with 591 points. In the process, the song became the first victory for the country since "Ne partez pas sans moi" by Celine Dion in and the first winning song ever in the history of the contest by a non-binary artist. It has been described by Nemo as a song that details their experience with coming to terms with their Non-binary gender, non-binary identity. "The Code" enjoyed widespread acclaim amongst its release, with praise being given towards the mixture of multiple musical genres and styles within the song, becoming a favourite to win the contest in the months heading into the competition. Nemo (singer)
Nemo Mettler (born 3 August 1999), known mononymously as Nemo, is a Swiss musician and singer-rapper who plays the violin, piano and drums. They were the first openly non-binary act to represent in the Eurovision Song Contest 2024, Eurovision Song Contest, and later won the 2024 contest with the song "The Code (Nemo song), The Code". They were the first openly non-binary musician to win the contest, and the third winner representing Switzerland (following the Eurovision Song Contest 1956, 1956 and Eurovision Song Contest 1988, 1988 competitions). Career Nemo began their interest in music at the age of three, learning to play the violin, piano and drum machine. They studied opera singing from age nine to thirteen. OGAE
The (OGAE) () is a non-governmental and non-profit international organisation, consisting of 42 Eurovision Song Contest fan clubs from across Europe and beyond. It was founded in 1984 in Savonlinna, Finland by Jaripekka Koikkalainen. Four non-profit competitions are organised by the OGAE every year to promote national popular music to Eurovision fans around the world. The organisation also works frequently in co-operation with the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and national broadcasters from the participating countries in order to help promote the Eurovision Song Contest. Switzerland competed at the Eurovision Song Contest 1988, held in Dublin, Ireland. The Swiss entry, which won the competition, was Céline Dion with the French language song "Ne partez pas sans moi", composed by Atilla Şereftuğ and Nella Martinetti. Before Eurovision National final The Swiss entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 1988 was selected through a national final. The final was held on 6 February 1988 at the Théâtre de Beausobre in Morges, hosted by Serge Moisson. There were originally meant to be ten songs competing, but the song "Smile" by Yama was disqualified as the singer did not meet the minimum age requirements. The Eurovision Song Contest 1988 was the 33rd edition of the annual Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Dublin, Ireland, following Johnny Logan's win at the with the song " Hold Me Now". Biel Solothurn Symphony Orchestra
The Biel Solothurn Symphony Orchestra (Sinfonie Orchester Biel Solothurn / Orchestre Symphonique Bienne Soleure) was founded in 1969 and has since gained an important place within the Swiss music scene. It is based in the Swiss cities of Biel-Bienne and Solothurn.
