The Claws Of Light
''Manila in the Claws of Light'' ( tl, Maynila, sa mga Kuko ng Liwanag) is a 1975 Filipino drama film directed by Lino Brocka based on the story ''In the Claws of Brightness'' by Edgardo M. Reyes. It is considered by many as one of the greatest films in Filipino cinema. It tells the story of Júlio Madiaga, a young man from the province of Marinduque who arrives in Manila for a mission to find his lover Ligaya. While making plans for his mission, he has to survive the conditions in the capital city, contending with issues like crime and prostitution. It stars Hilda Koronel, Lou Salvador, Jr., Tommy Abuel, and in his film debut, Rafael Roco, Jr. The cinematography of the film was handled by Miguel de Leon and the editing was handled by brothers Edgardo and Ike Jarlego. Lino Brocka
Catalino Ortiz Brocka (April 3, 1939 – May 22, 1991) was a Filipino film director. He is widely regarded as one of the most influential and significant filmmakers in the history of Philippine cinema. He co-founded the organization Concerned Artists of the Philippines (CAP), dedicated to helping artists address issues confronting the country, and the Free the Artist Movement. He was a member of the Coalition for the Restoration of Democracy. ''Weighed But Found Wanting'' (Filipino: ''Tinimbang Ka Ngunit Kulang''; also known as ''Human Imperfections'' ) is a 1974 Filipino drama film directed by Lino Brocka. The films stars Christopher De Leon (in his debut role), Hilda Koronel, Lolita Rodriguez and Eddie Garcia. A spec script, also known as a speculative screenplay, is a non-commissioned and unsolicited screenplay.
