''The Book of Fish'' () is a 2021 South Korean historical black and white film directed by Lee Joon-ik. The film starring Sol Kyung-gu and Byun Yo-han, is about an exiled Joseon era scholar and a fisherman and their exchange of knowledge in writing a book. The film was theatrically released on March 31, 2021 by Megabox. According to Korean Film Council data, it is at 14th place among all the Korean films released in the year 2021 in South Korea, with gross of US$2.70 million and 342,540 admissions, . The film won the Grand Prize at 57th Baeksang Arts Awards in May 2021. It has won 20 awards overall at various award ceremonies. 20th New York Asian Film Festival
The 20th New York Asian Film Festival was held in New York from 6 August to 22 August 2021. The opening film of the festival was ''Escape from Mogadishu'', a South Korean film by Ryoo Seung-wan. Seventy titles were screened both online, as well as in person. The 20th edition of the festival featured two world premieres, six international premieres, twenty nine North American premieres, eight U.S. premieres and nine New York premieres. 2021's festival featured the first ever outdoor screening of Raymond Lee’s wuxia 1992 film ''New Dragon Gate Inn'' at Lincoln Center’s Damrosch Park on August 11. Jeong Yakyong
Jeong Yak-yong (August 5, 1762 – April 7, 1836) or Chong Yagyong, often simply known as ‘Dasan’ (茶山, one of his ‘ho’ / pen-names meaning ‘the mountain of tea’), was a Korean agronomist, philosopher, and poet. He was one of the greatest thinkers in the later Joseon period, wrote highly influential books about philosophy, science and theories of government, held significant administrative positions, and was noted as a poet.
