George Irving (American Actor)
George Henry Irving (October 5, 1874 – September 11, 1961) was an American film actor and director. Career Irving started his career as a theatre actor, notably as leading man to Maude Adams. He came to Hollywood in 1914 and acted in over 250 films from 1914 until 1948. Irving was initially an actor-director and directed about 35 silent films, which are mostly forgotten today. He switched exclusively to acting in the mid-1920s and became a character actor until the later 1940s. Irving usually played reputable and stern persons of authority in supporting roles. He is perhaps best known for his roles as Robert Wentworth in ''Coquette'' (1929), and as the lawyer Alexander Peabody in ''Bringing Up Baby'' (1938). He ended his prolific career with two television roles in the 1950s. Personal life George Irving and his wife, Katherine Gilman, had two daughters, Katharine and Dorothy. Frederica "Faire" Binney (August 24, 1900 – August 28, 1957) her name pronounced like the country ''Zaire'', was an American stage and film actress.Soister, Nicolella & Joyce p.732 Biography Born Frederica Binney in Morristown, New Jersey, she was the daughter of Horace Binney, a lawyer, and Gertrude Miles Binney. Her education came in private schools in Concord, Massachusetts. She starred in a number of films during the silent era after making her debut in the 1918 film '' Sporting Life'' alongside her sister Constance Binney. During the early 1950s she appeared in several small, uncredited parts. Binney married David Carleton Sloane in October 1922 in her mother's house in New York. Anne Crawford Flexner (June 27, 1874 – January 11, 1955) born Anne Laziere Crawford, was an American playwright. Early life and education Anne Laziere Crawford was born in Georgetown, Kentucky, the daughter of Louis G. Crawford and Susan Farnum.Boewe, Mary. She earned a bachelor's degree from Vassar College in 1895. One of her Vassar classmates was newspaper publisher and efficiency expert Georgie Boynton Child; Crawford was matron of honor at Boynton's wedding in 1903. John Halliday (actor)
John Halliday (September 14, 1880 – October 17, 1947) was an American actor of stage and screen, who often played suave aristocrats and foreigners. Biography Halliday was born in Brooklyn, New York. In infancy, he moved with his parents to Europe, and he lived abroad until he was 18. He served with the British Army 1901-02 in the Boer War in South Africa. In 1905 Halliday, a civil/mining engineer from before his South Africa adventure, migrated to Nevada and dug up a fortune in gold nuggets and managed to lose the lot. After losing his money in the stock market in Sacramento, Halliday became an actor with a stock theater company headed by Nat Goodwin. He progressed from that group to touring the world as leading man in a troupe headed by T. Daniel Frawley. Making his Broadway debut in 1912 in Cecil Raleigh and Henry Hamilton's '' The Whip'', he became a familiar presence there, especially in sophisticated comedies such as W.
