The Blitz (Thebandwithnoname Album)
thebandwithnoname (referred to as "TBWNN" by fans) were a Christian band who were launched by Innervation Trust in March 2002, as their flagship band, alongside girl band TBC. TBWNN hosted their final gig at the Stockport Plaza on Saturday 4 September 2010 and have since disbanded. Trust background Innervation Trust is a Christian charity that recruits and resources school teams, each dedicated to a major city in the UK. Innervation Trust is the product of Mark Pennells and Zarc Porter, a songwriter/producer partnership also credited with writing most of the music for, and co-founding, the World Wide Message Tribe. Name To raise the profile of the band at its launch, Innervation opened a competition for fans to give the band a name. Christian Hip Hop
Christian hip hop (originally gospel rap, also known as Christian rap, gospel hip hop or holy hip hop) is a subgenre of contemporary Christian music and hip hop music. It emerged from urban contemporary music and Christian media in the United States during the 1980s. Christian hip hop music first emerged on record in 1982 with a track entitled "Jesus Christ (The Gospel Beat)" by Queens, New York artist McSweet. The first full-length, Christian hip hop album, ''Bible Break'', by Oklahoma artist Stephen Wiley, was released in 1985 with the title track becoming a hit on Christian radio in 1986. Other early Christian hip recording artists from the mid-1980s included P.I.D. (Preachas in Disguise), who recorded to funky rock rhythms, as well as JC & the Boys and Michael Peace. Doug Walker (musician)
Doug Walker is an English singer-songwriter based in Manchester. Walker is best known for his single "The Mystery" which saw a rapid rise to notoriety after being played by BBC Radio 1. Walker gave a copy of the recording to DJ Chris Moyles after turning up outside the Radio 1 studio on 28 August 2007 at 5.30am. It was played at 7.20am, and the radio station was inundated with emails and SMS texts, resulting in Moyles playing the song seven more times that week. As a result Walker met with eleven record labels and signed with Warner Bros. Records on 12 October 2007. "The Mystery" was released on 3 March 2008 as a download, and it entered the UK Singles Chart at No. 36 on 9 March. Walker's debut album was produced by Danton Supple who was responsible for '' X&Y'' by Coldplay and '' Silence Is Easy'' by Starsailor. Cross Rhythms is a Christian media organisation based in Stoke-on-Trent, England. It operates an FM and online radio station, produces radio shows sent internationally, and its website has resources about contemporary Christian music. History 1983–2002 In 1983, Chris Cole started a 30-minute weekly Christian music radio show on Plymouth Sound FM, an Independent Local Radio station in Plymouth. Unklejam
Unklejam were a British dance music band formed by Tendai Tyson. Background Unklejam's name is taken from Funkadelic's 1979 album ''Uncle Jam Wants You''. Their sound is a mixture of electro, R&B and soul with influences ranging from P-Funk to Prince and Sly and the Family Stone. The band were signed to Virgin Records. Their debut single "Love Ya" was played on BBC Radio 1 by Trevor Nelson and Annie Mac and was also performed live on ''Popworld'' on Channel 4. The single was B-listed at BBC Radio 1 and charted at number 54 in the UK Singles Chart. It was also included in the soundtrack for the video game, '' NBA Live 2008''. Soul Survivor (charity)
Soul Survivor is a global Christian movement based in Watford, Hertfordshire. It oversees several Christian summer festivals aimed at young people along with other events throughout the year. Soul Survivor hosted its final Summer festivals in 2019. History By 1993 the number of young people attending the annual Summer New Wine Christian Family Conference at the Royal Bath and West Showground in Somerset was significant enough for the organisers of New Wine to launch a special youth event. The first Soul Survivor conference took place in the Summer of 1993 under the leadership of Mike Pilavachi, a youth worker at St Andrew's Church, Chorleywood. Like New Wine, the Soul Survivor conferences were originally overseen by St Andrew's Church. The conference was the inspiration of Pilavachi and one of his church youth club members, Matt Redman who regularly led the worship at early Soul Survivor events aged 15.
