The Big One (TV Series)
''The Big One'' is a 1992 British comedy-drama television series starring Sandi Toksvig as Deddie Tobert and Mike McShane as James Howard. Seven episodes were broadcast on Channel 4 from 5 March to 16 April 1992. The series was written by Elly Brewer and Toksvig, and directed by John Henderson. Guest actors included Mel Martin, Jim Sweeney and Dexter Fletcher. The title theme was "I Close My Eyes and Count to Ten" by Dusty Springfield. Sandi Toksvig
Sandra Birgitte Toksvig (; ; born 3 May 1958) is a Danish-British writer, comedian and broadcaster on British radio, stage and television. She is also a political activist, having co-founded the Women's Equality Party in 2015. She has written plays, novels and books for children. In 1994, she came out as a lesbian. Toksvig took over from Stephen Fry as host of the BBC television quiz show '' QI'' in 2016 (series 'N'), having been a guest a number of times, and spent ten years hosting ''The News Quiz'' on BBC Radio 4. From 2017 to 2020 she was co-presenter of ''The Great British Bake Off'', alongside comedian Noel Fielding. In 2020, she stepped down and was replaced by Matt Lucas. ''Bottom Live – The Stage Show'' is a live stage show based on the UK TV series ''Bottom''. It ran in 1993 and was recorded for VHS (and later DVD) release at the Mayflower Theatre in Southampton. It was written by its stars, Rik Mayall as Richie Richard and Adrian Edmondson as Eddie Hitler. Plot Following a weekend lock-in in the lavatories of their local pub, Richie and Eddie return to their flat. After they unsuccessfully attempt to prepare breakfast the mail arrives, containing a letter and parcel for Richie. The letter is from the solicitors, which Eddie is left to dispose of, and the parcel contains a blow-up doll Richie ordered without his flatmate's knowledge. Ade Edmondson
Adrian Charles Edmondson (born 24 January 1957) is an English actor, comedian, musician, writer and television presenter. He was part of the alternative comedy boom in the early 1980s and had roles in the television series '' The Young Ones'' (1982–1984) and ''Bottom'' (1991–1995), which he wrote together with his collaborator Rik Mayall. Edmondson also appeared in '' The Comic Strip Presents...'' series of films throughout the 1980s and 1990s. For one episode of this he created the spoof heavy metal band Bad News, and for another he played his nihilistic alter-ego Eddie Monsoon, an offensive South African television star. "I Close My Eyes and Count to Ten" is a song written by Clive Westlake and recorded by British singer Dusty Springfield. Recorded on 1 June 1968 at Chappel Studios in London, "I Close My Eyes..." was released that August to reach No. 4 in the UK Singles Chart, where it ranks as one of Springfield's biggest hits: of her solo singles only " I Just Don't Know What to Do With Myself" (No. 3) and "You Don't Have to Say You Love Me" (No. 1) outrank "I Close My Eyes..." while "I Only Want to Be with You" matches its No. 4 peak (although "I Only Want to Be With You" charted for substantially longer than "I Close My Eyes...", with eighteen weeks as opposed to twelve). Dexter Fletcher
Dexter Fletcher (born 31 January 1966) is an English film director and actor. He has appeared in Guy Ritchie's ''Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels'', as well as in television shows such as the comedy drama '' Hotel Babylon'' and the HBO series '' Band of Brothers'' and, earlier in his career, starred as Spike Thomson in the comedy drama ''Press Gang''.
