The Belcher's
The Belcher's () is a Private housing estates in Hong Kong, private residential estate in Shek Tong Tsui, Hong Kong Island. It consists of six residential buildings constructed in two phases; three buildings were constructed in each phase. Construction for the first phase was completed in 2000, and in 2001 for the second phase. The estate was named after the adjacent Belcher's Street, which in turned was named after Sir Edward Belcher, a Canadian-born British naval officer and explorer. The Belcher's is connected to the Westwood mall. Features Towers 5 and 6 have 63 floors. Towers 1 and 2 have 61 floors. Towers 3 and 8 have 59 floors. Pok Fu Lam Road
Pok Fu Lam Road, or Pokfulam Road, is a four-lane road in Hong Kong. Built on Hong Kong Island, the road runs between Sai Ying Pun and Wah Fu, through Pok Fu Lam. Description It runs south from Sai Ying Pun, passing University of Hong Kong, The University of Hong Kong along the Belcher's, with a road junction with Pokfield Road. Edward Belcher
Admiral Sir Edward Belcher (27 February 1799 – 18 March 1877) was a British naval officer, hydrographer, and explorer. Born in Nova Scotia, he was the great-grandson of Jonathan Belcher, who served as a colonial governor of Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and New Jersey. Biography Early life Belcher was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, the second son of Andrew Belcher and entered the Royal Navy in 1812. Surveys In 1825, he accompanied Frederick William Beechey's expedition to the Pacific and Bering Strait as a surveyor. In 1835 he was surveying in the Irish Sea in , and in 1836 he commanded a surveying ship on the north and west coasts of Africa and in the British seas. The Census and Statistics Department (C&SD; ) is the provider of major social and economic official statistics in Hong Kong. Island Line (MTR)
The Island line is one of eleven lines of the MTR, the mass transit system in Hong Kong. It runs from Kennedy Town in the Western district to Chai Wan in the Eastern District on Hong Kong Island, passing through the territory's major business districts of Central, Wan Chai and Causeway Bay, and connecting them with built-up areas on the north shore of the island. HKU Station
HKU () is a station on the Hong Kong MTR located in the Shek Tong Tsui neighbourhood of Western, Hong Kong. It is named after the University of Hong Kong, which is served by the station. Belcher's Street
Belcher's Street is a main street in Kennedy Town of Hong Kong. It connects east Victoria Road and joins west Queen's Road West. A small section in its west end built a ''turn around'' for Hong Kong Tramways. The street was named after Edward Belcher, a Canadian-born Royal Navy officer who surveyed the harbour of Hong Kong in 1841. The former Western Fire Station, located at No. 12 Belcher's Street, was converted into the Po Leung Kuk Chan Au Big Yan Home for the Elderly. Pok Fu Lam
Pok Fu Lam or Pokfulam is a residential area on Hong Kong Island, at the western end of the Southern District. It is a valley between Victoria Peak and Mount Kellett, around Telegraph Bay. Pok Fu Lam can claim several ''firsts'' in the history of Hong Kong: It was the place where Hong Kong's floral emblem, ''Bauhinia blakeana'', was first discovered; the site for Hong Kong's first reservoir, Pok Fu Lam Reservoir (1883, now part of a country park), and the site for Hong Kong's first dairy farm by five investors, including Sir Patrick Manson in 1885.
