Patricio Guzmán
Patricio Guzmán Lozanes (born August 11, 1941) is a Chilean documentary film director. He is most known for his films ''The Battle of Chile'' (1975-1979) and ''Salvador Allende'' (2004). Career Guzmán also teaches documentary film classes in Europe and Latin America, and is the founder and director of the International Documentary Festival of Santiago (FIDOCS). He lives in France. His 1983 film ''The Compass Rose'' was entered into the 13th Moscow International Film Festival. His 2015 film ''The Pearl Button'' screened in the main competition section of the 65th Berlin International Film Festival. Chilean cinema refers to all films produced in Chile or made by Chileans. It had its origins at the start of the 20th century with the first Chilean film screening in 1902 and the first Chilean feature film appearing in 1910. Jorge Hernán Müller Silva (born 10 January 1947) a Chilean cinematographer and his girlfriend, Carmen Cecilia Bueno Cifuentes (born 16 July 1950) a Chilean actress and filmmaker were left activists from the Revolutionary Left Movement (MIR) who were detained on 29 November 1974 by security police during the military dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet.
