The Ark (Doctor Who)
''The Ark'' is the fifth serial of the third season of the British science fiction television series ''Doctor Who'', which was first broadcast in four weekly parts from 5 to 26 March 1966. The serial is set at least ten million years in the far distant future. In the first two episodes the time traveller the First Doctor (William Hartnell) and his travelling companions Steven Taylor (Peter Purves) and Dodo Chaplet ( Jackie Lane) arrive on a generation ship that Dodo names "the Ark". The Doctor searches for a cure for a fever that has spread across the human and Monoid races on board the ship, who have no immunity to it. The last two episodes are set 700 years later, and involve the Doctor, Steven and Dodo working with the Refusian race to stop the Monoids from wiping out the last of humanity with a bomb. John Wiles
John Wiles (20 September 1925 – 5 April 1999) was a South African novelist, television writer and producer. He was the second producer of the science fiction series ''Doctor Who'', succeeding Verity Lambert, and credited on four serials between 1965 and 1966, namely ''The Myth Makers'', ''The Daleks' Master Plan'' (which lasted for twelve episodes), ''The Massacre of St Bartholomew's Eve'', and '' The Ark''. Producer of ''Doctor Who'' Although he had a good working relationship with story editor Donald Tosh, Wiles found that he was unable to make many changes to the format of the programme. The common cold or the cold is a viral infectious disease of the upper respiratory tract that primarily affects the respiratory mucosa of the nose, throat, sinuses, and larynx. TARDIS
The TARDIS (; acronym for "Time And Relative Dimension In Space") is a fictional hybrid of the time machine and spacecraft that appears in the British science fiction television series ''Doctor Who'' and its various spin-offs. Its exterior appearance mimics a police box, an obsolete type of telephone kiosk that was once commonly seen on streets in Britain. Paradoxically, its interior is shown as being much larger than its exterior, commonly described as being "bigger on the inside". Generation Ship
A generation ship, or generation starship, is a hypothetical type of interstellar ark starship that travels at sub-light speed. Since such a ship might require hundreds to thousands of years to reach nearby stars, the original occupants of a generation ship would grow old and die, leaving their descendants to continue traveling. Origins Rocket pioneer Robert H. Goddard was the first to write about long-duration interstellar journeys in his "The Ultimate Migration" (1918). In this he described the death of the Sun and the necessity of an "interstellar ark". The crew would travel for centuries in suspended animation and be awakened when they reached another star system. ''The Celestial Toymaker'' is the mostly missing sixth serial of the third season in the British science fiction television programme '' Doctor Who'', which was first broadcast in four weekly parts from 2 to 23 April 1966. In this serial, the alien time traveller the First Doctor (William Hartnell) and his travelling companions Steven (Peter Purves) and Dodo Chaplet ( Jackie Lane) are pitted against a powerful adversary called the Celestial Toymaker (Michael Gough).
