The Alternative ( da, Alternativet) is a green political party in Denmark. The party was publicly launched on 27 November 2013 by former Minister of Culture Uffe Elbæk and Josephine Fock; Elbæk had been a parliamentarian for the Social Liberal Party. Elbæk was the leader of the party until February 2020, where he stepped down and was succeeded by Fock. Currently the party is led by Franciska Rosenkilde. It collaborates with DiEM25 at the European level. History Founding The Alternative was launched on 27 November 2013 by Uffe Elbæk and Josephine Fock, at a press conference at Christiansborg, the seat of the Folketing, the Danish parliament. Other founders include Niko Grüfeld, Torsten Gejl, and Rasmus Nordqvist. Franciska Rosenkilde
Franciska Rosenkilde (born 19 March 1976) is a Danish geographer and politician who has been the leader of The Alternative (Denmark), The Alternative since February 2021, replacing Josephine Fock. Alongside five other members of The Alternative, Rosenkilde was elected to the Folketing in November 2022. Education and civil career Rosenkilde has a Bachelor's degree#Denmark, professional bachelor's degree in health and nutrition from Metropol University College, which she studied from 2006 to 2010. In 2012, she began a master's degree in geography from the University of Copenhagen, which she completed in 2015. A study she completed with her thesis on food systems and climate change. Prior to her political career, she worked as a chef and as a mediator of diet and lifestyle. The Ministry of the Interior ( da, Indenrigsministerium) is one of the oldest government ministries in Denmark, having been established in 1848, but has frequently been combined with other ministries. Since 2015 it has been part of the Ministry of Social Affairs and the Interior. Its primary task has been to ensure the state's oversight over the regions and communities; it also oversees elections. Social Democrats (Denmark)
The Social Democrats ( da, Socialdemokraterne, ) is a social democratic political party in Denmark. A member of the Party of European Socialists (PES), the Social Democrats have 50 out of 179 members of the Danish parliament (following the latest Danish general election held in 2022), Folketing, and three out of fourteen MEPs elected from Denmark. Founded by Louis Pio in 1871, the party first entered the Folketing in the 1884 Danish Folketing election. Helle Thorning-Schmidt (; born 14 December 1966) is a Danish retired politician who served as the 26th Prime Minister of Denmark from 2011 to 2015, and Leader of the Social Democrats from 2005 to 2015. She is the first woman to have held each post. Following defeat in 2015, she announced that she would step down as both Danish Prime Minister and Social Democratic party leader. Torsten Gejl (born 30 January 1964, in Aarhus) is a Danish politician, who is a member of the Folketing for The Alternative (Denmark), The Alternative political party. He was elected into parliament at the 2015 Danish general election. He is currently the Caucus chair, group leader of The Alternative (Denmark), The Alternative in the Folketing. Political career The gel was first elected into parliament in the 2015 election, where he received 1,433 votes. He was elected again in the 2019 Danish general election, 2019 election, receiving 1,383 votes. Christiansborg Palace ( da, Christiansborg Slot; ) is a palace and government building on the islet of Slotsholmen in central Copenhagen, Denmark.
