The '59 Sound (song)
"The '59 Sound" is the debut single by American rock band the Gaslight Anthem. Written by the band and produced by Ted Hutt, it is the title track of the band's second full-length album. The song reached the U.S. Hot Modern Rock Tracks chart in early 2009. The song, which received mostly favorable reviews from critics, was performed live by the band with Bruce Springsteen at the Glastonbury and Hard Rock Calling festivals in June 2009. The Gaslight Anthem is an American rock band from New Brunswick, New Jersey, formed in 2006. The band consists of Brian Fallon (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Alex Rosamilia (lead guitar, backing vocals), Alex Levine (bass guitar, backing vocals), and Benny Horowitz (drums, percussion). The Gaslight Anthem released their debut album, '' Sink or Swim'', on XOXO Records in May 2007, and their second album, ''The '59 Sound'', on SideOneDummy Records in August 2008. ''Sink or Swim'' is the debut studio album by the Gaslight Anthem, released May 29, 2007, through XOXO Records. Reception Despite little attention from major critics, the album met with strong reception from independent critics. Absolutepunk.net received the album very positively, citing frontman Brian Fallon for having a "talent for creating lyrics and melodies that are simple and catchy, yet never forced or unintelligent."
