That's The Way I Feel About Cha
"That's the Way I Feel About Cha" is a 1972 single co-written, produced and recorded by American rhythm and blues/soul music performer, Bobby Womack, and also became the musician's first crossover Top 40 single on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100, reaching number 27. On the US ''Billboard'' R&B chart it peaked at number two, starting a four-year run of R&B hits for Womack during that decade. The single, co-written by Womack, John Grisby and Joe Hicks, was the second release off Womack's ''Communication'' album. It put Womack on the musical map as a solo artist, after he started his career as lead singer of the family musical group The Valentinos, and a period where he achieved success as a sideman for soul acts such as Aretha Franklin and Wilson Pickett, and rock singers such as Janis Joplin and Sly Stone. The song would inspire a few cover versions, with the most notable ones coming from Aretha Franklin from her album " Hey Now Hey (The Other Side of the Sky)" (1973), and also from ...

Sideman
A sideman is a professional musician who is hired to perform live with a solo artist, or with a group in which they are not a regular band member. The term is usually used to describe musicians that play with jazz or rock artists, whether solo or a group. Sidemen and sidewomen are generally required to be adaptable to many different styles of music, and so able to fit smoothly into the group in which they are currently playing. Sidemen and sidewomen are typically led by the group's bandleader, or, if there is no bandleader, by the lead singer. While many artists can work as sidemen or session musicians, others will only fill one role. The generally accepted difference is that a sideman performs live while a session musician is hired to perform in a recording studio. Career progression Often aspiring musicians start out as sidemen, playing rhythm guitar, comping on keyboards, or playing drum kit in the rhythm section or singing backing vocals for a well-known bandleader or s ...

Songs Written By Bobby Womack
A song is a musical composition intended to be performed by the human voice. This is often done at distinct and fixed pitches (melodies) using patterns of sound and silence. Songs contain various forms, such as those including the repetition and variation of sections. Written words created specifically for music, or for which music is specifically created, are called lyrics. If a pre-existing poem is set to composed music in classical music it is an art song. Songs that are sung on repeated pitches without distinct contours and patterns that rise and fall are called chants. Songs composed in a simple style that are learned informally "by ear" are often referred to as folk songs. Songs that are composed for professional singers who sell their recordings or live shows to the mass market are called popular songs. These songs, which have broad appeal, are often composed by professional songwriters, composers, and lyricists. Art songs are composed by trained classical composers fo ...

Rhythm Guitar
In music performances, rhythm guitar is a technique and role that performs a combination of two functions: to provide all or part of the rhythmic pulse in conjunction with other instruments from the rhythm section (e.g., drum kit, bass guitar); and to provide all or part of the harmony, i.e. the chords from a song's chord progression, where a chord is a group of notes played together. Therefore, the basic technique of rhythm guitar is to hold down a series of chords with the fretting hand while strumming or fingerpicking rhythmically with the other hand. More developed rhythm techniques include arpeggios, damping, riffs, chord solos, and complex strums. In ensembles or bands playing within the acoustic, country, blues, rock or metal genres (among others), a guitarist playing the rhythm part of a composition plays the role of supporting the melodic lines and improvised solos played on the lead instrument or instruments, be they strings, wind, brass, keyboard or even percus ...

Hey Now Hey (The Other Side Of The Sky)
''Hey Now Hey (The Other Side of the Sky)'' is the nineteenth studio album by American singer-songwriter Aretha Franklin. Released in mid-1973 by Atlantic Records, it was the first Atlantic album by Franklin to miss the Top 25 of the main ''Billboard'' chart, peaking at #30, and reaching #2 on the R&B albums listing. This album was originally planned to be a straight jazz album with songs like "Moody's Mood" and "Just Right Tonight", but producers Franklin and Quincy Jones took a detour and produced songs like "Mister Spain" and the title cut. Other notable songs include the No. 1 R&B and top 20 pop single "Angel" written by Franklin's younger sister Carolyn, as well as a cover of " Somewhere" which features Franklin on piano and Phil Woods on alto saxophone. This recording was reissued on compact disc through Rhino Records in the 1990s. The song "Master of Eyes" was included as the tenth track on the reissue though it was not included on the first release. Track listing ...

Cover Version
In popular music, a cover version, cover song, remake, revival, or simply cover, is a new performance or recording by a musician other than the original performer or composer of the song. Originally, it referred to a version of a song released around the same time as the original in order to compete with it. Now, it refers to any subsequent version performed after the original. History The term "cover" goes back decades when cover version originally described a rival version of a tune recorded to compete with the recently released (original) version. Examples of records covered include Paul Williams' 1949 hit tune "The Hucklebuck" and Hank Williams' 1952 song "Jambalaya". Both crossed over to the popular hit parade and had numerous hit versions. Before the mid-20th century, the notion of an original version of a popular tune would have seemed slightly odd – the production of musical entertainment was seen as a live event, even if it was reproduced at home via a cop ...

Sly Stone
Sylvester Stewart (born March 15, 1943), better known by his stage name Sly Stone, is an American musician, songwriter, and record producer who is most famous for his role as frontman for Sly and the Family Stone, playing a critical role in the development of funk with his pioneering fusion of soul, rock, psychedelia and gospel in the 1960s and 1970s. AllMusic stated that "James Brown may have invented funk, but Sly Stone perfected it," and credited him with "creating a series of euphoric yet politically charged records that proved a massive influence on artists of all musical and cultural backgrounds." ''Crawdaddy!'' has called him "the founder of progressive soul". Born in Texas and raised in the Bay Area of Northern California, Stone mastered several instruments at an early age and performed gospel music as a child with his siblings (and future bandmates) Freddie and Rose. In the mid-1960s, he worked as both a record producer for Autumn Records and a disc jockey for San Fran ...
