That's The Stuff
''That's the Stuff'' is the second studio album by the American glam metal band Autograph, released in 1985 by RCA Records. The album featured the singles "That's the Stuff" and "Blondes in Black Cars." A different version of the album was reissued in 1986, featuring a blue cover with different artwork. This version featured a cover of Grand Funk Railroad's "We're an American Band" replacing "Six String Fever" as track 6. A remastered version of the original album with the red cover was released by Spitfire Records in 2002, which retained the same track listing as the original, apart from the substitution of "Six String Fever" with "We're an American Band" as track number 6. Since its remastered release in 2002, the CD has become extremely rare. The album was again reissued in 2009 by the British record label Rock Candy. This time, the remastered CD featured the ten original tracks (including "Six String Fever") and "We're an American Band" as a bonus track. The booklet features ... Autograph is an American glam metal band formed in Pasadena, California, in 1983. The band is best known for their 1984 hit song " Turn Up the Radio". Due to the song being their only major success, Autograph is often considered a one-hit wonder. History Formation and classic years (1983–1988) Autograph originally began in late 1983, as a solo project for singer, songwriter and guitarist Steve Plunkett, who had recently left the band Silver Condor. "We're an American Band" is a song by American rock band Grand Funk Railroad, released in 1973 from the band's seventh album of the same name, which became the band's first number one single, released July 2, 1973. Written by Don Brewer and produced by Todd Rundgren, its huge chart success broadened Grand Funk's appeal. It was sung by drummer Don Brewer who began doing more lead vocals for the band and helped with their transition to making top 40 hits. It is the 99th song on VH1's list of the 100 Greatest Hard Rock Songs. Lyrics Brewer's lyrics are somewhat autobiographical, detailing the band's recent tour and their energetic live performances. Stephen Marcussen is the founder and chief mastering engineer at Marcussen Mastering in Hollywood, California, United States. He has been mastering music since 1979. Biography Marcussen's introduction to music recording happened in 1976 when, at the age of 19, he was offered a janitor position at Studio 55, record producer Richard Perry's Los Angeles recording studio. At Studio 55, Marcussen received an education in all facets of music recording and sound production. By the end of his Studio 55 tenure, he had earned his first album credits as an assistant engineer, working on The Manhattan Transfer's ''Pastiche'', Boz Scaggs's '' Middle Man'', and The Pointer Sisters's ''Special Things''. Don Brewer
Donald George Brewer (born September 3, 1948) is an American drummer and singer. He is the longest serving and only remaining original member of rock band Grand Funk Railroad. Early life Brewer was born in Flint, Michigan, on September 3, 1948, the son of Clara Eileen (née Waterman) and Donald A. Brewer, and is a graduate of Swartz Creek High School. Early career Brewer started his first band, called 'The Red Devils', at the age of 12. After leaving 'The Red Devils', Brewer formed another band named the 'Jazzmasters' for whom he played drums and sang. In 1964, Brewer joined former DJ Terry Knight as well as bassist Herm Jackson, guitarist Curt Johnson, and keyboardist Bobby Caldwell and formed the band Terry Knight and the Pack. Mike Post (born Leland Michael Postil, September 29, 1944) is an American composer, best known for his TV theme music for various shows, including ''Law & Order''; '' Law & Order: Special Victims Unit''; ''The A-Team''; ''NYPD Blue''; ''Renegade;'' ''The Rockford Files''; '' L.A. The River Rat
''The River Rat'' is a 1984 independent family film directed by Thomas Rickman and starring Tommy Lee Jones and Martha Plimpton. Steve Lynch
Steve Lynch (born January 18, 1955) is an American guitarist. He is best known as the co-founder and original lead guitarist of the glam metal/hard rock band Autograph. He decided to commit himself to music and mastering the guitar when Jimi Hendrix died in 1970. In addition to Hendrix, Lynch's influences came from late-1960s and early-1970s rock musicians such as Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and the Beatles. He initially played bass, however Hendrix's death influenced him to switch to guitar. Lynch gradually developed his signature two-handed (eight-finger) tapping technique throughout the 1970s and into the mid-1980s.
