"That's Love, That It Is" is a song by the English synth-pop duo Blancmange, released on 18 November 1983 as the second single from their second studio album ''Mange Tout'' (1984). It was written by Neil Arthur and Stephen Luscombe, and produced by John Luongo. "That's Love, That It Is" reached No. 33 in the UK and remained in the charts for eight weeks. In January 1985, the song, paired with "Game Above My Head", reached No. 16 on the US ''Billboard'' Hot Dance/Disco chart. A music video was filmed to promote the single. It was directed by Tim Pope and achieved light rotation on MTV. Critical reception Upon release, Jools Holland, reviewing for '' Number One'', stated: "I like the song. The production, however, is a little bit 'standard contemporary'." Blancmange (band)
Blancmange () are an English synth-pop band formed in Harrow, London, in 1979. The band were a duo for much of their career, composed of Neil Arthur (vocals) and Stephen Luscombe (keyboards). They came to prominence in the early 1980s, releasing four UK top-20 singles: " Living on the Ceiling", "Waves", " Blind Vision" and " Don't Tell Me". They released three studio albums during that decade: ''Happy Families'' (1982), ''Mange Tout'' (1984) and ''Believe You Me'' (1985). The duo amicably broke up in 1986 but reformed in the late 2000s, and in 2011 released their fourth studio album, ''Blanc Burn''. Luscombe left following the release due to ill health, and since then Arthur alone has continued to perform under the Blancmange name, releasing nine new studio albums along with a re-recording of the band's debut studio album, titled '' Happy Families Too...'' Blancmange (, from french: blanc-manger ) is a sweet dessert popular throughout Europe commonly made with milk or cream and sugar thickened with rice flour, gelatin, corn starch, or Irish moss (a source of carrageenan), and often flavoured with almonds. John Fryer (producer)
John Fryer (born 1958) is an English record producer. Best known for his production work, he has also performed as a musician, as one of the two constant members of This Mortal Coil (along with Ivo Watts-Russell), providing keyboards, strings and synthesizer sequencing for the band, and its offshoot, The Hope Blister. Career Fryer started out at Blackwing Studios in south London, working with bands on the 4AD, Mute, Rough Trade and Beggars Banquet record labels, including Depeche Mode, Fad Gadget and Cocteau Twins. His work with the Cocteau Twins, helping to develop their ethereal and ambient sound, led Watts-Russell to recruit Fryer as his musical and producing partner for This Mortal Coil. Glenn Rosenstein is an American record producer, engineer, sound mixer and guitarist based in Muscle Shoals, AL, who engineered and produced many albums including the Grammy winning ''One Bright Day'' by Ziggy Marley. Rosenstein worked at New York City's Sigma Sound Studios in the 1980s. He owns and runs Skylight Studio. Mark Kamins (April 13, 1955 – February 14, 2013) was an American record producer, remixer, and disc jockey famous for his role in the New York club scene. He is best known for helping launch the career of singer Madonna by bringing her to Sire Records and producing her debut single "Everybody (Madonna song), Everybody" in 1982. Life and career Kamins attended Little Red School House, Elizabeth Irwin High School in New York City. He grew up with songwriter Bob Thiele Jr. and they went to school with jazz drummer Denardo Coleman and photographer Amy Arbus.
