''Than'' is a grammatical particle analyzed as both a conjunction and a preposition in the English language. It introduces a comparison and is associated with comparatives and with words such as more, less, and fewer. Typically, it measures the force of an adjective or similar description between two predicates. Usage Case of pronouns following ''than'' According to the view of many English-language prescriptivists, including influential 18th-century grammarian Robert Lowth, ''than'' is exclusively a conjunction and therefore takes either nominative (or subjective) or oblique (or objective) pronouns, depending on context, rather than exclusively oblique pronouns as prepositions do. This rule is broken as often as it is observed. Than Htay ( my, သန်းဌေး; born 12 November 1954) is a Burmese politician who served as Chairman of the Union Solidarity and Development Party from August 2016 to September 2022 due to medical treatment. He previously served as the Minister for Rail Transportation, and Minister for Energy. He is a retired brigadier general in the Myanmar Army. Early life Than Htay was born on 12 November 1954 in Ayeyarwady Region. When he was 17, he was accepted into the Defence Services Academy and earned a bachelor of arts and a master’s degree in defense. Military and political career Serving in the military until 2010, he peaked as a brigadier general. He left the army at the rank of brigadier general in 2003 to become deputy minister of energy, before being promoted to minister in 2011. Nguyễn Hải Thần
Nguyễn Hải Thần (; born Nguyễn Văn Thắng in Dai Tu village, Thường Tín District, Hà Đông Province, circa 1869; died 1959; also known as Vũ Hải Thu) was a leader of the Việt Nam Cách Mạng Đồng Minh Hội (Vietnamese Revolutionary Alliance) and a political leader during the Vietnamese Revolution. Biography In 1905, he left Vietnam to study at military academies first in Japan then in China as part of Phan Bội Châu's Đông-Du Movement (Travel to the East). In 1912, he joined Châu's Vietnam Restoration League (Việt Nam Quang Phục Hội) and became one of its representatives in Kwangsi and one of its most capable military leaders. After Châu's capture in 1925 that led to the league's demise, Thần and other revolutionaries in China founded the Việt Nam Cách Mạng Đồng Minh Hội. Gilbert Đinh Văn Thân, more commonly known as Đinh Văn Thân, is a ni-Vanuatu "prominent businessman" and former politician. Ron Crocombe described him in 2007 as "perhaps the wealthiest entrepreneur and largest private employer in Vanuatu and many say the most politically influential ..citizen". Than Tun ( my, သန်းထွန်း, ; 6 April 1923 – 30 November 2005) was an influential Burma, Burmese historian as well as an outspoken critic of the State Peace and Development Council, military junta of Burma. For his lifelong contributions to the development of worldwide study of Burmese history and culture, Professor Than Tun was awarded the Fukuoka Asian Culture Prize in 2000. Than Shwe ( my, သန်းရွှေ, ; born 2 February 1933 or 3 May 1935) is a Burmese strongman politician who was the head of state of Myanmar from 1992 to 2011 as Chairman of the State Peace and Development Council (SPDC). During this period, he held key positions of power including Prime Minister of Myanmar, Commander-in-chief of Myanmar Defense Services and head of the Union Solidarity and Development Association. Than Nyein ( my, သန်းငြိမ်း; 5 August 1937 – 21 May 2014) was a Burmese politician and physician. He was one of the founders of the National Democratic Force (NDF) party, after working for the National League for Democracy (NLD) since its inception in 1988. Early life and career Than Nyein was born in Khanaung east village, Kyauktan Township in British Burma on 5 August 1937. He graduated from Institute of Medicine, Yangon in 1963 after passing high school in 1954. Ohn Than ( my, အုန်းသန်း, ; commonly written U Ohn Than, following Burmese honorific conventions; born 1946) is a Burmese democracy activist who received international attention for his "stoic one-man protests". He spent the majority of the years from 1988 to 2012 imprisoned, and Amnesty International considered him a prisoner of conscience. Thangadh (Than) is an industrial city of Surendranagar district in the state of Gujarat, India. The municipality is functioning in Than. Saurashtra was once called Patad region by snake worshipers, an example of which is the Vasuki temple in Than. In and around Thane are found temples in the form of the god of snakes. Ma Than E Fend ( my, မသန်းအေး, also known by her baptismal name Dora) was a prominent Burmese singer in the early 20th century, known by her stage name Bilat Pyan Than (). She was also an international civil servant who spent a long career in the United Nations.
