Thais in Japan consist of Thai migrants that come to Japan, as well as their descendants. In June 2023, there were 59,271 Thais living in Japan. History There were some contacts between the Ryūkyū Kingdom and the Ayutthaya Kingdom which dates far as the 15th century. Some trade between the two countries were successfully done during the 17th century, as the Japanese community in Ayutthaya began. Among the several native ethnic groups of Japan, the predominant group are the Yamato Japanese, who trace their origins back to the Yayoi period and have held political dominance since the Asuka period. Other historical ethnic groups have included the Ainu, the Ryukyuan people, the Emishi, and the Hayato; some of whom were dispersed or absorbed by other groups. Ethnic groups that inhabited the Japanese islands during prehistory include the Jomon people and lesser-known Paleolithic groups. In more recent history, a number of immigrants from other countries have made their home in Japan. According to census statistics in 2018, 97.8% of the population of Japan are Japanese, with the remainder being foreign nationals residing in Japan. Yuri On Ice
is a Japanese sports anime television series about figure skating. The series was produced by MAPPA, directed and written by Sayo Yamamoto with original scripts by Mitsurō Kubo under the chief direction of Jun Shishido. Character designs were handled by Tadashi Hiramatsu, and its music was composed by Taro Umebayashi and Taku Matsushiba. The figure skating was choreographed by Kenji Miyamoto, who also performed routines himself which were recorded and used as skating sound effects. The series premiered on October 6, 2016 and ended on December 22, 2016, with a total of 12 episodes. A ''Yuri on Ice'' feature film, ''Ice Adolescence'', was originally planned for release in 2019, but has been delayed to a later date. is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Syun Matsuena. Matsuena first published a manga titled ''Tatakae! Ryōzanpaku Shijō Saikyō no Deshi'', which ran in Shogakukan's ''Shōnen Sunday Super'' from 1999 to 2002. ''Shijō Saikyō no Deshi Ken'ichi'' is a remake of the series, and was serialized in Shogakukan's ''Weekly Shōnen Sunday'' from April 2002 to September 2014, with its chapters collected in sixty-one ''tankōbon'' volumes. A 50-episode anime television series adaptation produced by TMS Entertainment aired on TV Tokyo from October 2006 to September 2007.
