Texas Park Road 36
Park Road 36 (PR 36) is a Park Road in the U.S. state of Texas maintained by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). The road, located in northwestern Palo Pinto County west of Graford, was authorized in 1945 to provide access to a former section of Possum Kingdom State Park. PR 36 has since been extended to two private campgrounds connecting them to State Highway 16 (SH 16) while intersecting FM 2951 and FM 2353. Route description PR 36 begins at the main entrance for the Boy Scouts of America camp, Camp Constantin, and the YMCA camp, Camp Grady Spruce; the main road of the highway travels through the former. The highway travels in close proximity to Possum Kingdom Lake's southern shore, before reaching FM 2951. Palo Pinto County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2020 census, its population was 28,409. The county seat is Palo Pinto. The county was created in 1856 and organized the following year. Possum Kingdom State Park
Possum Kingdom State Park is a state park in Palo Pinto County, Texas, USA, that was built in the 1940s by Civilian Conservation Corps Company 2888 and opened to the public in 1950. It covers approximately , and lies in the Palo Pinto Mountains and Brazos River Valley of Texas. The park borders the large Possum Kingdom Lake, a lake known for its clear blue waters. Possum Kingdom winds for down the Brazos River, and has more than of shoreline. A privately owned store and marina in the park cater to boaters and campers. The Boy Scouts of America have a summer camp "Constantin" on the shores of Possum Kingdom Lake as does the YMCA at camp "Grady Spruce". Camp Grady Spruce is directly across from the most well known geological feature of the lake called "Hell's Gate", a channel which cuts between an island and a row of cliffs. State Highway 16 (SH 16) is a south–north state highway in the U.S. state of Texas that runs from Zapata on the boundary with Mexico to U.S. Highway 281 south of Wichita Falls. It is the longest state highway in Texas at almost , but is only the ninth-longest of any highway classification in the state. Route description SH 16 begins at an intersection at US 83 in Zapata. The route continues through south Texas ranchlands, then to the north through San Antonio's far south side.
