Texas House Of Representatives, District 65
District 65 is a district of the Texas House of Representatives that serves a portion of Denton County. The current representative is Kronda Thimesch, who was elected in 2022. Democrat Beckley could not run for re-election in 2022, as 2021 redistricting resulted in her being drawn outside of the district's new boundaries. District description The district is located wholly within Denton County, representing southern portions of the county. The district includes northeastern parts of Lewisville, north half of Carrollton, all of Bartonville, Northlake, Justin, and Double Oak. As well as portions of Plano, and a very small part of Dallas that extends into Denton County. Kronda Thimesch (' ') is an American politician from Texas who is the Republican member of the Texas House of Representatives from District 65, which spans the southern portion of Denton County, Texas in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex. 2022 Election Texas HD-65 boundaries were redrawn in 2021 as part of the decennial reapportionment following the 2020 US Census. As a result of redistricting, HD-65 grew to include several precincts in the more rural western portion of Denton County. Thimesch was elected to the seat in 2022 under the new map, and was sworn into office in January 2023. Thimesch voted to impeach Attorney General Ken Paxton. Thimesch has announced plans to run for re-election; two challengers have also filed for the Republican nomination, including Brian Brazeal and Mitch Little, one of the attorneys who defended Ken Paxton at his impeachment trial. San Patricio County, Texas
San Patricio County is located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2020 census, its population was 68,755. Its county seat is Sinton. San Patricio County is part of the Corpus Christi metropolitan statistical area. History In 1828, 200 Irish Catholic families, recruited from Ireland and the Irish population of New York City, contracted with the Mexican government to settle on 80 leagues of land in this area. By 1836, about 500 people lived in the colony on 84 Mexican land grants. During the Texas Revolution, most fled from the colony because of fighting in the area. By 1841, a small number of permanent residents had returned. When Texas was annexed by the United States in 1845, the area was stabilized by the presence of U.S. troops under General Zachary Taylor.
