Ken King
Kenneth Paul King (born December 28, 1971), is an American businessman and politician. He is a Republican member of the Texas House of Representatives from District 88 in the Texas Panhandle. King is a businessman engaged in the oil and natural gas industry. Career Politics On July 31, 2012, King defeated first-term incumbent Republican Jim Landtroop, an insurance agent from Plainview, in a runoff election. King received 7,541 votes (54 percent) to Landtroop's 6,426 ballots (46 percent). The runoff was required because of the unsuccessful candidacy of a third candidate, former State Representative Gary Walker. King serves on the Judiciary & Civil Jurisprudence and Public Education committees. He was elected to his second term in office on November 4, 2014, with a margin of 91.2 percent over a Libertarian opponent. In 2016, King was unopposed in both the primary and general elections. Hale County, Texas
Hale County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2020 census, its population was 32,522. The county seat is Plainview. The county was created in 1876 and organized in 1888. It is named for Lt. John C. Hale, a hero of the Battle of San Jacinto. Hale County comprises the Plainview, Texas micropolitan statistical area. History In 7000 BC, Paleo-Indians were the first county inhabitants. Later Native American inhabitants included the Comanche. The Texas Legislature formed Hale County from Bexar County in 1876. Yoakum County, Texas
Yoakum County is a county located in the far western portion of the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2020 census, the population was 7,694. Its county seat is Plains. The county was created in 1876 and later organized in 1907. It is named for Henderson King Yoakum, a Texas historian. Until the passage of a liquor sales referendum held on May 11, 2013, Yoakum had been one of 19 remaining prohibition or entirely dry counties within the state of Texas. Voters in Denver City also approved a separate referendum to permit liquor sales within that community. In 1965, Recorded Texas Historic Landmark number 5927 was placed at the county courthouse, acknowledging the creation of the county in 1876. Until after 1900, the county contained primarily nomadic buffalo hunters and a few scattered ranchers. Wheeler County, Texas
Wheeler County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2020 census, its population was 4,990. Its county seat is Wheeler. The county was formed in 1876 and organized in 1879. It is named for Royall Tyler Wheeler, a chief justice of the Texas Supreme Court. Wheeler County was formerly one of 30 entirely dry counties in the state of Texas. However, around 2010, the community of Shamrock, located in Wheeler County at the intersection of Interstate 40 and U.S. Highway 83, voted to allow liquor sales.
