Territory (1978 Film)
''Territory'' (russian: Территория, Territoriya) is a 1978 Soviet adventure drama film directed by Aleksander Surin based on the novel of the same name by Oleg Kuvaev. The film tells of the difficult search, exploration and the subsequent discovery of gold deposits in Chukotka in the late 1940s and early 1950s of Dalstroy. In 2015 a remake was released which was directed by Aleksandr Melnik and starred Konstantin Lavronenko. Donatas Banionis
Donatas Banionis (28 April 1924 – 4 September 2014) was a Soviet and Lithuanian stage and film actor and theatre director. He has more than 80 credited roles in cinema and is best known for his performance in the lead role of Tarkovsky's ''Solaris'' as Kris Kelvin. He was born in Kaunas, Lithuania. Banionis began his career with some films in Lithuanian, but he would later play mainly in Russian language films (although his voice was dubbed by Russian actors). He has also worked outside the USSR like in the title role Francisco Goya of the USSR-GDR coproduction ''Goya or the Hard Way to Enlightenment'' (1971), directed by Konrad Wolf and in the title role as Ludwig van Beethoven in the 1976 DEFA-production ''Beethoven - Tage aus einem Leben''. Eduard Artemyev
Eduard Nikolayevich Artemyev ( rus, Эдуа́рд Никола́евич Арте́мьев, p=ɨdʊˈart ɐrˈtʲemʲjɪf; born 30 November 1937) is a Soviet and Russian composer of electronic music and film scores. Outside of Russia, he is mostly known for his soundtracks for films such as ''At Home Among Strangers'', ''Solaris'', ''Siberiade'', '' Stalker'' and ''Burnt by the Sun''. He was awarded the title People's Artist of Russia in 1999. Biography Artemyev was born in Novosibirsk and studied at the Moscow Conservatory under Yuri Shaporin. His interest in electronic music and synthesizers began after his graduation in 1960, when electronic music was still in its infancy. He wrote his first composition in 1967, on one of the first synthesizers, the ANS synthesizer developed by the Soviet engineer Yevgeny Murzin. Dalstroy (russian: Дальстро́й, ), also known as Far North Construction Trust, was an organization set up in 1931 in order to manage road construction and the mining of gold in the Russian Far East, including the Magadan Region, Chukotka, parts of Yakutia and parts of present-day Kamchatka Krai. Initially it was established as ''General Directorate of Construction in the Far North'' (Главное Управление строительства Дальнего Севера) under the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Soviet Union. In 1938 it was placed under the NKVD and in 1945 it was reorganized and renamed. After the 1952 reorganization it was known as ''Main Directorate of Camps and Construction of the Far North''.
