Terminal (Rupert Holmes Song)
"Terminal" is a song by British-American singer-songwriter Rupert Holmes, released as a single in 1974. The song is included on his 1974 debut album, ''Widescreen'' on Epic Records. The orchestrations on the recording were written and conducted by Holmes. The album was produced by Jeffrey Lesser. "Terminal" was backed with "Bagdad", a track also from ''Widescreen''. Some promotional copies were issued in a special sleeve (not actually a picture sleeve, but rather an art sleeve) describing the song. In 1975, after Holmes' self-titled second Epic album was released, Epic again issued "Terminal" as an A-side (Epic 50161), backed with "Deco Lady" from his second album. Neither single release charted. "Terminal" is a popular song in the Philippines, and has subsequently been covered by Filipino singers Julius Obregon on the 1974 album ''A Friend to You'', Sharon Cuneta on the 2006 album ''Isn't It Romantic?'', and Piolo Pascual on the 2009 album ''Decades''. David Goldstein (born February 24, 1947), better known as Rupert Holmes, is a British-American composer, singer-songwriter, dramatist and author. He is widely known for the hit singles "Escape (The Piña Colada Song)" (1979) and " Him" (1980). He is also known for his musicals ''The Mystery of Edwin Drood'', which earned him two Tony Awards, and ''Curtains'', and for his television series ''Remember WENN''. Life and career Holmes was born David Goldstein in Northwich, Cheshire, England. His father, Leonard Eliot Goldstein, was a United States Army warrant officer and bandleader. Jay Berliner (born May 24, 1940 in Brooklyn, New York) is an American guitarist who has worked with Harry Belafonte, Ron Carter, Charles Mingus, and Van Morrison, among others. Career Berliner had his first television experience at age seven with his sister Eve on ''The Children's Hour'' on NBC. He was the guitarist for Harry Belafonte in the early to mid-1960s, appearing on many of Belafonte's recordings and playing in venues around the world. John Miller (musician)
John Miller (born 1945) is an American bassist and musical coordinator known for his work on Broadway. He graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Music degree in 1968. A professional bass player, he moved to New York City in the mid-1970s and was eventually hired as the musical director for the Broadway musical ''I Love My Wife''. He also had an acting role in the show for which he won a Drama Desk Award. In the mid-'70s he played bass and arranged for Leonard Cohen, arranging his single “Do I Have to Dance All Night”. Although Miller won an acting award, he has had very few acting roles since, instead choosing to work as a musical contractor and later musical coordinator on stage, and in films and television. Al Rogers (July 24, 1924 – December 6, 2019) was an American country singer. Early life Rogers was born July 24, 1924, in West Mifflin, Pennsylvania. He learned to play the banjo at age 9 and the guitar at age 12. Career Rogers was the leader of the band "The Rocky Mountain Boys". They are best known for their 1954 hit "Hydrogen Bomb", which was featured in the soundtrack of the movie "The Atomic Cafe". Rogers' fans know him as "The American Folk Balladeer". In the 1950s, Rogers was a popular radio and television star in Amarillo, Texas, most notably in the TV series "The Panhandle Barn Dance". Elliott Randall (born June 15, 1947) is an American guitarist best known for being a session musician with popular artists. Randall played the well-known guitar solos from Steely Dan's song "Reelin' in the Years" and Irene Cara's song " Fame". The former solo was ranked as the 40th best guitar solo of all time by the readers of ''Guitar World'' magazine and the eighth best guitar solo by Q4 Music. Terminal illness or end-stage disease is a disease that cannot be cured or adequately treated and is expected to result in the death of the patient.
