Teresa Mannion
Teresa Mannion (born 1961) is an Irish people, Irish journalist and Television presenter, broadcaster. She has worked as a broadcast news reporter since 2000 and is currently the RTÉ News and Current Affairs reporter based in the West of Ireland since 2007. In December 2015, Mannion's live reporting from Galway during Storm Desmond went on to Viral phenomenon, go viral social media, online. Her subsequent rise in fame led to becoming a contestant on the Dancing with the Stars (Irish TV series), first Irish series of ''Dancing with the Stars''. Career Mannion worked in children's television in the 1980s. Mannion has been reporting for RTÉ News in various positions since the 1990s. RTÉ One
RTÉ One ( ga, RTÉ a hAon) is an Irish free-to-air flagship television channel owned and operated by Raidió Teilifís Éireann (RTÉ). It is the most-popular and most-watched television channel in the country and was launched as ''Telefís Éireann'' on 31 December 1961, it was renamed ''RTÉ'' in 1966, and it was renamed as RTÉ 1 upon the launch of RTÉ 2 in 1978. It is funded partly by the government's licence fee; the remainder of the funding is provided by commercial advertising. Because RTÉ is funded partly by the licence fee it shows considerably fewer advertisements than most other channels available in Ireland and Northern Ireland. Ballygall
Ballygall () is a small suburban area located between Glasnevin and Finglas, on the northside of the city of Dublin, Ireland. It is also a townland divided between the civil parish of Finglas and that of Glasnevin. It was settled by Vikings in the 11th century, and later by the Cambro-Normans. The area is largely residential, with St Kevin's College, some shops, and a church and schools. Etymology The Cambro-Normans called it ''Fyngallestoun'', the township of Fingal, but the indigenous Gaels called it the town of the Galls, or foreigners, hence in Gaelic, ''Baile na nGall''. Whether from the Normans or the Gaels, it was abbreviated later in old charters to ''Gallstoun''. It seems to have been originally settled by a man called Arthur, hence it appears also as Arthurstoun. It seems to have morphed from Gallstoun to Ballygall sometime in the 16th century. The ''Irish Farmers Journal'' is a weekly newspaper (published Thursdays) which provides farming news, specialist advice, market data and country living features to the Irish agricultural industry. As of October 2019, it reportedly had a weekly readership of 263,000. ''The Morning Show'' is an Australian morning talk show broadcast on the Seven Network and currently hosted by Kylie Gillies and Larry Emdur. Ryan Tubridy (born 28 May 1973), nicknamed 'Tubs ' is an Irish broadcaster. He presents ''The Ryan Tubridy Show'' and '' The Late Late Show''. Tubridy previously presented RTÉ 2fm breakfast radio show ''The Full Irish'', which at its end was the second most popular radio programme in Ireland. For five seasons from 2004 until 2009, he presented the Saturday night TV chat show ''Tubridy Tonight'' on RTÉ One. Viral Phenomenon
Viral phenomena or viral sensation are objects or patterns that are able to replicate themselves or convert other objects into copies of themselves when these objects are exposed to them. Analogous to the way in which viruses propagate, the term ''viral'' pertains to a video, image, or written content spreading to numerous online users within a short time period. This concept has become a common way to describe how thoughts, information, and trends move into and through a human population. The popularity of viral media has been fueled by the rapid rise of social network sites, wherein audiences—who are metaphorically described as experiencing "infection" and "contamination"—play as passive carriers rather than an active role to 'spread' content, making such content "go viral". Auto-Tune
Auto-Tune (or autotune) is an audio processor introduced in 1996 by American company Antares Audio Technologies. Auto-Tune uses a proprietary device to measure and alter pitch in vocal and instrumental music recording and performances. Auto-Tune was originally intended to disguise or correct off-key inaccuracies, allowing vocal tracks to be perfectly tuned despite originally being slightly off-pitch. The 1998 Cher song " Believe" popularized the technique of using Auto-Tune to distort vocals. In 2018, the music critic Simon Reynolds observed that Auto-Tune had "revolutionized popular music", calling its use for effects "the fad that just wouldn't fade.
