''Tender are the Feet'' ( my, ခြေဖဝါးတော်နုနု, Pronounced as Ché Phawa Daw Nu Nu) is a 1973 Burmese film directed by Maung Wunna. After 42 years of regional release, the film was premiered at the Forum section of the 64th Berlin Film Festival in February 2014. Plot Sein Lin (Zaw Lwin) is the drummer for a traditional Burmese dance theater group in Rangoon, who is very passionate about Burmese music, art and cultural traditions. He gets frustrated when, in his opinion, one of the dancers dances against—not with—the beat, and he turns his back on his troupe, only to join another soon after, where he meet and falls in love with beautiful dancer Khin San (San San Aye). Yet Khin San is at first affronted by Sein Lin's teachings. Although they argue incessantly, they cannot deny their attraction for one another. Bagyi Aung Soe
''Bagyi'' Aung Soe ( my, ဗဂျီ အောင်စိုး ; 1924–1990) was a Burmese painter renowned for his modernistic, semi-abstract art, which caused such a shock in Burma when it appeared that many called it "psychopathic art". The name "Bagyi" is his phonetic spelling of the word "pangyi", meaning "painting", which he first added to his name in 1955. Santiniketan and Early Life in Burma The Indian government offered him a scholarship in 1951 to study art at Santiniketan, founded by Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore, but he chose to return to Burma after only a year. He traveled throughout Burma studying its handicrafts, classical art and architecture, especially that of Bagan. Maung Wunna (filmmaker)
Maung Wunna ( my, မောင် ဝဏ္ဏ, 19 January 1947 – 11 January 2011) was a two-time Myanmar Motion Picture Academy Awards-winning Burmese director and writer. He came from a family heavily involved in the entertainment industry—his father Thadu was a director and his brother Thu Maung was a prominent singer and actor and Min Lu was a reputed satirist. Maung Wunna died of lung cancer in 2011. Career Wunna worked from an early age as a sound engineer and film editor for his novelist and filmmaker father, Thadu. In 1970 he earned a BA in philosophy from University of Yangon. His first film as a director, '' Katipa phanat see shwe htee hsaung'', was released in 1971, and he won the National Award for Best Direction. Sein Bo Tint ( my, စိန်ဗိုလ်တင့်) was a renowned Burmese hsaing waing musician, best known for his virtuosity in playing the pat waing, a Burmese drum circle, his compositions, and the introduction of innovations in traditional Burmese music. He was a favourite musician of Ne Win. Early life He was born Maung Tint in 1938, in Kyaiklat, British Burma, as the fifth of ten children. His father, Bo Kay Ohn, was a pat waing musician.
