Televisión y Radio de Campeche (TRC) is the state broadcaster of the Mexican state of Campeche, retransmit the programming of Canal 44 de Guadalajara and Canal Once. TRC operates an AM radio station, XESTRC-AM 920 "Voces Campeche" in Tenabo, as well as TV station XHCCA-TDT channel 4.1 in San Francisco de Campeche. It also holds the concession for XHRTC-FM 89.3, a currently unbuilt FM radio station also in San Francisco de Campeche. History The first public broadcaster in Campeche began in the early 1980s during the government of Alfonso Millán Luna, producing local opt-out programming for Televisión de la República Mexicana. When TRM became part of Imevisión in 1985, the broadcaster moved to new facilities and changed its name to COCATEC, becoming officially incorporated on October 31, 1988. San Francisco de Campeche (; yua, Ahk'ìin Pech, ), 19th c., also known simply as Campeche, is a city in Campeche Municipality in the state of Campeche, Mexico on the shore of the Bay of Campeche of the Gulf of Mexico. Both the seat of the municipality and the state's capital, the city had a population at the 2010 census of 220,389, and the municipality had a population of 259,005. The city was founded in 1540 by Spanish conquistadores as San Francisco de Campeche atop the pre-existing Maya city of Can Pech. The Pre-Columbian city was described as having 3,000 houses and various monuments, of which little trace remains. The city retains many of the old colonial Spanish city walls and fortifications which protected the city from pirates and buccaneers. The Instituto Mexicano de la Televisión (''Mexican Television Institute''), known commercially as Imevisión after 1985, was a state broadcaster and federal government agency of Mexico. At its height, Imevisión programmed two national networks and additional local stations in Mexico City, Chihuahua, Ciudad Juárez, Guadalajara, Mexicali, Tijuana and Monterrey. Canal 44 ( es, Channel 44) is the television network of the Universidad de Guadalajara (UDG), a university in Jalisco, Mexico.
