Teh Chai Aan
Teh Chai Aan () is a Malaysian politician who served as the Member of the Perlis State Executive Council (EXCO) in the Barisan Nasional (BN) state administration under former Menteri Besar Azlan Man from May 2018 to the collapse of the BN state administration in November 2022 as well as Member of the Perlis State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Titi Tinggi from May 2018 to November 2022. He is a member of the Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA), a component party of the BN coalition. He is one of the only two MCA candidates elected in the 2018 state elections of all the states except Sarawak. He was also the sole Perlis EXCO Member and MLA of MCA and sole EXCO Member of the Chinese ethnicity. Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party
The Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS; ms, Parti Islam Se-Malaysia; ms, ڤرتي إسلام سمليسيا, label=Jawi alphabet, Jawi, script=arab, italic=unset) is an Islamist political party in Malaysia. Democratic Action Party
The Democratic Action Party (abbreviation: DAP; ms, Parti Tindakan Demokratik; ; ta, ஜனநாயக செயல் கட்சி) is a Centre-left politics, centre-left social democracy, social democratic political party in Malaysia. Gagasan Sejahtera
The Gagasan Sejahtera (English: ''Ideas of Prosperity'', abbrev: GS) was a coalition of opposition Islamist political parties which promote the "ideas of peace" in Malaysia. The informal electoral pact was formed initially on 16 March 2016 by Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS) and Parti Ikatan Bangsa Malaysia (IKATAN) as a ''Third Force'' to face both ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) and the opposition Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalitions in the upcoming 2018 Malaysian general election (GE14). Pakatan Harapan
The Alliance of Hope ( ms, Pakatan Harapan; abbrev: PH; stylized as HARAPAN) is a Malaysian political coalition consisting of centre-left political parties which was formed in 2015 to succeed the Pakatan Rakyat coalition. It has been the ruling coalition since November 2022 after it formed the coalition government with other political coalitions and parties as a result of the 2022 Malaysian general election, and after it won the 2018 Malaysian general election to February 2020 when it lost power as a result of the 2020 Malaysian political crisis at the federal level for 22 months. Wipeout (elections)
An electoral wipeout occurs when a major party receives far fewer votes or seats in a legislature than their position justifies. It is the opposite of a landslide victory; the two frequently go hand in hand. 2022 Perlis State Election
The 2022 Perlis state election, formally the 15th Perlis state election, took place on 19 November 2022. This election was to elect 15 members of the 15th Perlis State Legislative Assembly. The previous assembly was dissolved on 14 October 2022. The incumbent Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition faced a historic wipeout (first time in Perlis and second time in national level), winning no seats. The Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition won 14 of 15 seats (achieving supermajority) and formed the first ever non-UMNO/BN government in the state's history.
