''Zinc Alloy and the Hidden Riders of Tomorrow'' is an album by English rock band T. Rex, the ninth since Tyrannosaurus Rex's debut LP. It was released in March 1974 on the T.Rex record label, distributed by EMI. It was the first and only album to be released under the moniker "Marc Bolan & T. Rex". Unlike many of T. Rex's previous albums, it was not released domestically in North America; instead, the record compagny released the U.S.-only ''Light of Love'' in August of the same year, featuring three tracks from ''Zinc Alloy'' while the remainder songs would appear on the band's next album, ''Bolan's Zip Gun''. ''Zinc Alloy'' was met with bemusement by the listening public. It reportedly confused listeners and divided the band's fanbase at the time, while critical reception was universally negative. ''Light of Love'' is a US-only album released by British rock band T. Rex in 1974. It is composed of 3 tracks previously released in the UK on the album ''Zinc Alloy and the Hidden Riders of Tomorrow'', together with 8 songs recorded in the Spring of 1974 at Music Recorders Inc. Studios in Hollywood which would later appear on the album ''Bolan's Zip Gun''. The album was engineered by Gary Ulmer and, in the absence of Tony Visconti (who had left T. Rex production duties), was produced by Marc Bolan himself. The album marked the first time that a T. Rex album had been produced without Tony Visconti and also marked Bolan's debut in this role. "Till Dawn", was re-recorded for ''Bolan's Zip Gun'' with Bolan at the controls. The newly recorded songs were licensed by Neil Bogart who had just set up his Casablanca Records label, together with " Teenage Dream", "Explosive Mouth" and "Venus Loon" from the ''Zinc Alloy and the Hidden Riders of Tomorrow'' album. Almond first began performing and recording in the synthpop/ new wave duo Soft Cell where he became known for his distinctive soulful voice and androgynous image. Mickey Finn (musician)
Michael Norman Finn (3 June 1947 – 11 January 2003) was the percussionist and sideman to Marc Bolan in his band Tyrannosaurus Rex (on one album, ''A Beard of Stars'') and later the 1970s glam rock group T. Rex. After Bolan's death and T. Rex's demise, he worked as a session musician for The Blow Monkeys and The Soup Dragons. Career Finn was born in Thornton Heath, Surrey. After he joined Tyrannosaurus Rex in late 1969, it was rumoured that Bolan had hired Finn for his good looks, and because he admired his motorcycle, rather than for his musical ability. Finn was unable to recreate the complex rhythmical patterns of his predecessor, Steve Peregrin Took, and was effectively hired as much for a visual foil for Bolan as for his drumming. The Roundhouse is a performing arts and concert venue situated at the Grade II* listed former railway engine shed in Chalk Farm, London, England. The building was erected in 1846–1847 by the London & North Western Railway as a roundhouse, a circular building containing a railway turntable, but was used for that purpose for only about a decade. After being used as a warehouse for a number of years, the building fell into disuse just before World War II. It was first made a listed building in 1954. It reopened after 25 years, in 1964, as a performing arts venue, when the playwright Arnold Wesker established the Centre 42 Theatre Company and adapted the building as a theatre. Darryl Michael Roy Read (19 September 1951 – 23 June 2013) was a British singer, guitarist, drummer, actor, poet and writer. In the late 1960s, Read was a member of Crushed Butler, considered by some to be amongst the forerunners of proto punk and punk rock. He collaborated with musicians such as Bill Legend, Mickey Finn and Ray Manzarek. Read appeared as a child actor in a number of films, including, aged 14, in '' Daylight Robbery'' (1964), for which he won a silver medal for best actor at the Venice Film Festival. He also appeared on stage in two rock-based plays and a number of television programmes. He was a published author of poetry as well as a biographical novel.
