Teatro Principal De València
The Teatro Principal de València (), meaning Main Theatre of València, is a theatre in Valencia, Spain. It is located in downtown Carrer de les Barques (meaning Boats Street), close from the Valencia City Hall, City Hall, as well as the Estació del Nord (Valencia), Northern Station and the adjacent Plaza de Toros de Valencia, Bullring. Background The Principal is the oldest surviving theatre in the city and predates national hallmarks such as Madrid's Teatro Real and Barcelona's Liceu. Valencia's former main theatre, the Corral de las Comedias de la Olivera, had been demolished when theatrical stagings were banned for moral issues, but after they were resumed following a 1760 Royal Decree by Charles III of Spain, Charles III the construction of a new main theatre was sealed in 1774. ("Cinderella, or Goodness Triumphant") is an operatic in two acts by Gioachino Rossini. The libretto was written by Jacopo Ferretti, based on the libretti written by Charles-Guillaume Étienne for the opera '' Cendrillon'' with music by Nicolas Isouard (first performed Paris, 1810) and by Francesco Fiorini for with music by Stefano Pavesi (first performed Milan, 1814). All these operas are versions of the fairy tale '' Cendrillon'' by Charles Perrault. Rossini's opera was first performed in Rome's Teatro Valle on 25 January 1817. In this variation of the fairy tale, the wicked stepmother is replaced by a stepfather, Don Magnifico. The Fairy Godmother is replaced by Alidoro, a philosopher and tutor to the Prince. ''El gato montés'' ("The Wild Cat") is an opera in three acts composed by Manuel Penella who also wrote the Spanish-language libretto. It premiered on 23 February 1916 at the Teatro Principal in Valencia. Manuel Penella Moreno (31 July 1880 in Valencia – 14 January 1939 in Cuernavaca) was a Spanish composer. His father was the composer :es:Manuel Penella Raga, Manuel Penella Raga. His daughter Magdalena Penella Silva married the politician Ramón Ruiz Alonso; through her, he was the grandfather of actresses Emma Penella, Elisa Montés and Terele Pávez.
