''Tatlong Taong Walang Diyos'' () is a 1976 Filipino period film written and directed by Mario O'Hara that set in the province of Laguna during the Second World War. The film stars Nora Aunor as the barrio lass Rosario, Christopher De Leon as the Japanese-Filipino army officer Masugi, and Bembol Roco as the army guerilla member Crispin. The film was shot in Majayjay, Laguna where some of its townspeople would later serve as extras. Synopsis The film, set during the Japanese Occupation of the Philippines between 1942 and 1944, tells the story of Rosario ( Aunor), a young schoolteacher engaged to be married to Crispin ( Roco). Crispin leaves Rosario to fight the Japanese as a guerilla, and in his absence a Japanese-Filipino officer named Masugi ( De León) rapes her. Mario Herrero O'Hara (April 20, 1946 – June 26, 2012) was a Philippines, Filipino film director, film producer and screenwriter known for his sense of Realism (arts), realism often with dark but realistic social messages. Early life He was born in Zamboanga City on April 20, 1946. His mother, Basilisa Herrero, was a native of Ozamiz in Misamis Occidental and had Spanish ancestry. The Gawad Urian Awards are annual film awards in the Philippines held since 1977. It is given by the Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino (MPP, "the Filipino Film Critics") and is currently regarded as the counterpart of the United States' New York Film Critics Circle. Establishment The MPP was formed by a host of scholars, film writers and other award-winning writers on May 1, 1976 as a critics' voice to rival the then-only award-giving body in the Philippines, which is its Oscars', the FAMAS Awards. The 24th Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences Awards Night was held in 1977. This was for the outstanding achievements in films in 1976. A Nora Aunor film, ''Minsa'y isang gamu-gamo'' from Premiere Productions, was the most nominated with eight nominations and the most awarded with five wins including FAMAS Award for Best Picture and the Best Director for Lupita Aquino-Kashiwahara. However, Aunor was not nominated for this film but she did win for another film, ''Tatlong taong walang Diyos'', her first award from FAMAS after five nominations. ABS-CBN Film Restoration Project or also known as Sagip Pelikula, was a digital film restoration project of ABS-CBN Corporation in partnership with Central Digital Lab. The project is headed by Leo Katigbak of ABS-CBN Film Archives and Manet Dayrit of Central Digital Lab. The goal of the project is to digitally restore and remaster select Filipino films from the archives of ABS-CBN. Since the beginning of the project in 2011, the project has successfully digitized, restored, and remastered over one hundred Filipino films into a 1080p or 2K Digital Cinema Package format with a maximum resolution of 2048x1080 pixels at 24 frames per second.
