Tarik S. Khan is an American politician. He is a current Democratic member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, representing the 194th District since 2023. Background Khan was born on October 14, 1978, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the son of a Pakistani immigrant father and a Catholic mother. Khan's father, Zia, came to the US in 1964 to attend graduate school at The University of Pennsylvania and met Patricia Klein, a nurse of German, Polish, and Scottish descent at a Philadelphia party. Khan's older brother, Joseph, was born in 1975. Khan grew up Muslim in a Jewish neighborhood in Philadelphia. Khan attended Joseph J. Greenberg School, a public K-8 school in Bustleton, Philadelphia and graduated from Central High School of Philadelphia in 1996. Khan earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Davidson College in 2000. Tariq Pervez Khan (15 February 1948 – 18 April 2020) was the Chief Justice of Peshawar High Court in Pakistan. He was later elevated to the Supreme Court from where he retired in February 2013. He also served as the caretaker chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from March 20, 2013 to May 31, 2013. He has also been acting governor twice during the tenure of Governor Ali Muhammad Jan Orakzai. On November 10, 2014, he was nominated as chief election commissioner of Pakistan.
