Tariq Aziz
Tariq Aziz ( ar, طارق عزيز , 28 April 1936 – 5 June 2015) was an Iraqi politician who served as Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and a close advisor of President Saddam Hussein. Their association began in the 1950s when both were activists for the then-banned Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party. He was both an Arab nationalist and a member of the Chaldean Catholic Church. Because of security concerns, Saddam rarely left Iraq, so Aziz would often represent Iraq at high-level diplomatic summits. What the United States wanted, he averred, was not "regime change" in Iraq but rather "region change". He said that the Bush Administration's reasons for war were "oil and Israel." After surrendering to American forces on 24 April 2003, Aziz was held in prison, first by American forces and subsequently by the Iraqi government, in Camp Cropper in western Baghdad. Tariq Aziz (born 9 September 1974) is a Pakistani cricketer who plays for the Portugal cricket team. He played five first-class matches for Hyderabad in the 1999/00 season. In August 2018, he represented Portugal in Group A of the 2018–19 ICC T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier tournament. In Portugal's second match, against France, he was named as the player of the match, after taking three wickets and scoring 48 runs. He finished as the leading run-scorer for the team in the qualifier, with 99 runs from four matches. In October 2019, he was named in Portugal's Twenty20 International (T20I) squad for the 2019 Iberia Cup tournament. Tariq Aziz ( Punjabi, ur, طارق عزیز; 28 April 1936 – 17 June 2020) was a Pakistani television host, poet and film actor, known for PTV's quiz show ''Neelam Ghar'', first aired in 1974, later renamed the ''Tariq Aziz Show'' and lately as ''Bazm-e-Tariq Aziz''. He was known for his iconic line " Dekhti Aankhon,Sunte Kaanon Tariq Aziz ka Salam". He was the first face to appear on television in Pakistan. Dr. Tariq Aziz (Urdu: طارق عزیز born 5 February 1938) is a Pakistani former field hockey player. He won a Gold medal at the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City, and a Silver medal at the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Aziz was born in Amritsar, British India. Education Aziz graduated from CVS, Lahore, Pakistan in 1959 and did his masters (M.Sc.) from the University of Agriculture (Faisalabad) in 1966. Career He joined the University of Agriculture (Faisalabad), as instructor in 1962 and retired as professor of Veterinary Medicine in 1997.
