''Tapper'', also known as ''Root Beer Tapper'', is a 1983 arcade game developed by Marvin Glass and Associates and released by Bally Midway. ''Tapper'' puts the player in the shoes of a bartender who must serve eager, thirsty patrons (before their patience expires) while collecting empty mugs and tips. It was distributed in Japan by Sega in 1984. Originally sponsored by Anheuser-Busch, the arcade version features a Budweiser motif. It was intended to be sold to bars, with cabinets sporting a brass rail footrest and drink holders. Early machines had game controllers that were actual Budweiser beer tap handles, which were later replaced by smaller, plastic versions with the Budweiser logo on them. The re-themed ''Root Beer Tapper'' followed in 1984, which was developed specifically for arcades because the original version was construed as advertising alcohol to minors. ''Tapper World Tour'' is a reinterpretation of the 1983 Bally Midway arcade game '' Tapper'' for iOS. Players take the role of a bartender with the goal of serving drinks and collecting empty glasses and tips from a demanding group of patrons. The game was developed by Square One Studios and published by WB Games. Gameplay In ''Tapper World Tour'', players wander to different watering holes around the globe to serve libations to patrons. As the tender of the bar, players have three or more countertops to manage. Patrons arrive sporadically at the end of each bar slowly advancing and demanding drinks. Customers are served by filling a mug with their drink of choice and sliding the mug towards the advancing customer. Once caught, the satisfied patron gulps his drink and heads to the end of the line. Tapp Tarock (german: Tapp-Tarock), also called Viennese Tappen (german: Wiener Tappen), Tappen or Tapper, is a three-player tarot card game which traditionally uses the 54-card Industrie und Glück deck. Before the ''Anschluss'' (1938), it was the preferred card game of Viennese coffee houses, for example, the ''Literatencafés'' and ''Café Central''. Even today Tapp Tarock is played sporadically. The exact date when it appeared is not possible to identify; some sources suggest it may have been developed in Austria in the early 19th century,Kastner and Folkvord (2005) but its mention in caricature operas in 1800 and 1806 suggest it was well known even by then and must have arisen in the late 18th century. A spile is a small wooden or metal peg used to control the flow of air into, and carbon dioxide out of, a cask of ale. Spiles can also be used to broach water from trees. Bertha Tapper
Bertha Johanne Feiring Maass Tapper (25 January 1859 - 2 September 1915) was a Norwegian composer, pianist, and teacher, best known for editing the piano works of Edvard Grieg for publication in America. She published under the name Bertha Feiring Tapper. Biography Tapper was one of nine children born in Oslo to Berthe Iversdatter and Lars Olsen Feiring. She married Carl Ludvig Otto Maass and they had a son (Louis) and a daughter (Klea). She later married musicologist Thomas Tapper in New York in 1894. She studied music with Johan Svendsen and Agatha Backer Grondahl in Norway. In 1878, she graduated from the Conservatory of Music in Leipzig, Germany (today the University of Music and Theatre), and later studied with Theodor Leschetizkey in Vienna. She emigrated to America in 1881. She taught and performed, both as a piano soloist and as an accompanist with the Kneisel Quartet and other musicians. Producer Bunny Lee arranged with the UK-based entrepreneur Larry Lawrence for him to undertake some recording sessions and concerts, opening for U-Roy the day after his arrival in London. Thomas Pitt Cholmondeley-Tapper (31 July 1910 – 27 July 2001) was an auto racing driver from New Zealand, the first great New Zealander auto driver before Graham McRae, Chris Amon, Bruce McLaren, Denny Hulme and others. He was known as "George", and he came from Norwegian ancestry. An expert skier and amateur driver racing Bugattis, an old GP Maserati 8CM he had bought from Earl Howe, and a Ferrari Monza. He was offered a Mercedes-Benz test drive at the end of the 1936 season, and would participate at the 1936 German Grand Prix. He died in England at the age of 90.
