''Tapes 'n Tapes'' is Tapes 'n Tapes' first released EP on Ibid Records. The self-titled, self-produced 7-track EP was recorded in a secluded cabin situated in the middle of the Wisconsin wintry wilderness. Tapes 'n Tapes is an indie rock band from Minneapolis, Minnesota. History Formed in the winter of 2003 at Carleton College, the band has released four albums. First came the self-released ''Tapes 'n Tapes EP'' in 2004, followed by the full-length release, '' The Loon'', on Ibid Records in 2005. The band signed to XL Recordings and re-released '' The Loon'' on July 25, 2006. In October 2007 the band announced finishing recording of their second album, titled '' Walk It Off''. ''Walk It Off'' was recorded by producer David Fridmann in his Tarbox Road Studio in Cassadaga, New York. The album was released April 8, 2008. The band's most recent album, ''Outside'', was released on January 11, 2011. Indie Rock
Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. Originally used to describe independent record labels, the term became associated with the music they produced and was initially used interchangeably with alternative rock or "Pop rock, guitar pop rock". One of the primary scenes of the movement was Dunedin, where Dunedin sound, a cultural scene based around a convergence of noise pop and jangle became popular among the city's University of Otago, large student population. The Loon
''The Loon'' is the debut album of the Minneapolis-based band Tapes 'n Tapes. It was originally self-released by the band's own Ibid Records on October 28, 2005 on compact disc. On July 24, 2006, the album was released in the United Kingdom on XL Recordings, on both CD and vinyl. The album was generally well received by music critics, and earned numerous comparisons to the Pixies and Pavement. Pitchfork Media gave the album a favorable review, and gave it a "Best New Music" commendation. The songs "Insistor" and "Cowbell" were released as singles in 2006 on XL Recordings. "Insistor" is also featured in the soundtrack of the video game ''Major League Baseball 2K7''. In late 2006, the band's song "Jakov's Suite" (the final song of the album) began appearing in a television commercial for Nissan.
