Tankus The Henge
Tankus the Henge are a British band based in London. Initially based around the songwriting of Jaz Delorean, the band has developed a style of music which they term "gonzo rock 'n' roll", with influences from New Orleans jazz, psychedelic rock, 1970s funk and songwriters such as Tom Waits and The Band. They are lyrically and aesthetically inspired by 20th century American literature such as the works of Allen Ginsberg, Jack Kerouac, Charles Bukowski and Hunter S. Thompson, which they combine with influences from Delorean's family heritage of working on funfairs and in the circus around the UK (1950s and 1960s rock 'n' roll, brightly painted artwork, carnival lights). The band was a PRS for Music featured artist in 2010, and in 2011 was named by ''Metro'' as one of their "Top 10 Acts To See" at Glastonbury Festival. Towersey Festival
Towersey Festival is an annual festival of folk, world music and traditional dance, previously held in the village of Towersey, now relocated to neighbouring Thame in Oxfordshire, England. It has taken place every August bank holiday weekend since its founding in 1965. History The festival set out as a fundraising event to rescue the decaying Towersey Village Memorial Hall – a building that commemorated the 14 men who had lost their lives in the First World War. In that first year (1965), it was a one-day village fete with morris dancing and a folk singing session in the pub barn. Its success can be measured by the money raised, the enjoyment of the day by the village residents and visitors, and by the fact that, in the following year, a three-day event was held. PRS for Music Limited (formerly The MCPS-PRS Alliance Limited) is a British music copyright collective, made up of two collection societies: the Mechanical-Copyright Protection Society (MCPS) and the Performing Right Society (PRS). WOMAD ( ; World of Music, Arts and Dance) is an international arts festival. The central aim of WOMAD is to celebrate the world's many forms of music, arts and dance. Fusion Festival
The Fusion Festival is a music and arts festival with a countercultural character. It takes place at a former military airport called Müritz Airpark in Lärz, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, in northeastern Germany. The festival name is often depicted in Cyrillic letters as Фузион, but pronounced like the English word fusion []. The annual festival was started by the ''Kulturkosmos'' organisation in 1997. It lasts four to six days, usually at the end of June. In 2016, the Fusion Festival event took place from 29 June to 3 July and which has attracted some 70,000 attendees for each year's festival, since the 2013 event, which the comparable American Burning Man event only matched in 2015. Isle Of Wight Festival
The Isle of Wight Festival is a British music festival which takes place annually in Newport on the Isle of Wight, England. It was originally a counterculture event held from 1968 to 1970. The 1970 event was by far the largest of these early festivals and the unexpectedly high attendance levels led, in 1971, to Parliament adding a section to the Isle of Wight County Council Act 1971 preventing overnight open-air gatherings of more than 5,000 people on the island without a special licence from the council. The event was revived in 2002. The Montreux Jazz Festival (formerly Festival de Jazz Montreux and Festival International de Jazz Montreux) is a music festival in Switzerland, held annually in early July in Montreux on the Lake Geneva shoreline. The ''Maidenhead Advertiser'' is a weekly local paper which has been published in the Berkshire town of Maidenhead since 1869. It is an independent publication run by the family firm Baylis Media Ltd, and is unique in that it is owned by a charitable trust, the Louis Baylis (Maidenhead Advertiser) Charitable Trust, which contributes large donations to the community. Early history The first copy of the Maidenhead Advertiser was published on 28 July 1869. Its founder was Edwin Bushell Prosser and his first edition cost one old penny and was four-pages long.
