Tank Road Railway Station
Tank Road railway station was a railway station which served as the terminus of the Singapore-Kranji Railway from 1903 to 1932. History Originally located along River Valley Road at the foot of Fort Canning Hill, the station was opened on 1 January 1903, under the name of Singapore Station, on the Singapore-Kranji Railway, the first railway line in Singapore. The station served as the terminus of the line, running services to Bukit Timah railway station, and later to Kranji and to Malaysia. The station master occupied the Tan Yeok Nee House, after Tan Yeok Nee and his family moved out amid construction of the station. Pillar boxes were installed in both Tank Road station and Newton station later that year. The station was later relocated along Tank Road, and reopoened on May 1, 1906. Pasir Panjang Railway Station
Pasir Panjang railway station, also known as Alexandra Road railway station or Passir Panjang railway station, was a railway station which served as the terminus of the Singapore-Kranji Railway from 1907 to 1932. History Pasir Panjang railway station was opened to the public on 21 January 1907, as one of the two original railway stations on the 1907 extension of the Singapore-Kranji railway from Tank Road railway station, Tank Road station, along with Borneo Wharf railway station. Despite the official name of the station being Pasir Panjang, the station board read Passir Panjang, and the tickets referred to the station as Alexandra Road. The station was built opposite Alexandra Road, serving the docks. The station was near the Alexandra Brickworks. The Federated Malay States Railways (FMSR) was a consolidated railway operator in British Malaya (present day Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore) during the first half of the 20th century. Van Kleef Aquarium
Van Kleef Aquarium was an oceanarium located along River Valley Road, at the foot of Fort Canning Hill, in Singapore. Fully air-conditioned, the aquarium had 6,500 animals at the time of opening, which were housed in freshwater, seawater, and swamp tanks respectively. The decision to develop the aquarium was made in 1935 by the Municipal Commission, as a way to use the money bequested to the Municipal Commission by Karel William Benjamin Van Kleef in 1930 for the "embellishment of the city". While the site and name of the aquarium were chosen by 1936, and plans for it drawn up in 1937, the aquarium was only approved in 1939 due to cost concerns. Construction subsequently began in 1940, but work was halted after piling was completed due to rising material costs, only resuming in 1952 on a new site. The National Theatre ( ms, Panggong Negara; ) was built on the slope of Fort Canning Park along River Valley Road in the Museum Planning Area of Singapore. The Singapore River is a river that flows parallel to Alexandra Road and feeds into the Marina Reservoir in the southern part of Singapore. The immediate upper watershed of the Singapore River is known as the Singapore River Planning Area, although the western part of the watershed is classified under the River Valley planning area.
