Tanjong Pagar MRT Station
Tanjong Pagar MRT station is an underground Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station on the East West line located at Maxwell Road between the junctions of Peck Seah Street and Cecil Street in Downtown Core, Singapore. The station was built in the 1980s, and was opened in December 1987. Taking its name from Tanjong Pagar Road, which is located near the station, it is located near Tanjong Pagar Complex, the AXA Tower and International Plaza. History In November 1982, a plot of land between Wallich Street and Chong Guan Street was gazetted for acquisition by the government for the construction of the station, which was then named Maxwell. In December 1983, Contract 108 for the construction of Maxwell station, along with the tunnels between it and Raffles Place station, was awarded to Taisei-Shimzu-Marubeni, a Japanese consortium, for $63.4 million. Peck Seah Street
Peak Seah Street () is a street located in Tanjong Pagar on the boundary between Outram Planning Area and the Downtown Core in Singapore. The road connects Gopeng Street and Tras Street to Maxwell Road, and is intersected by Wallich Street. Etymology and history Peck Seah Street was named after Seah Peck Seah (), the youngest son of Seah Eu Chin and brother of Seah Liang Seah (). He was the proprietor of Ho Hong Steamship Company and a partner of the Chin Huat Hin Oil Trading Company. He also served as a Justice of Peace. Tanjong Pagar ( Jawi: تنجوڠ ڤاڬر) in Malay means "cape of stakes", possibly due to ''kelongs'' (offshore fishing traps constructed using wooden stakes and cross pieces) along the coast from the village of Tanjong Malang till Tanjong Pagar. Tanjong Pagar Park
Tanjong Pagar Park, formerly known as Tanjong Pagar RICOH Park, is an urban park situated around the Guoco Tower (formerly Tanjong Pagar Centre) in Singapore. The entire complex is located above Tanjong Pagar MRT station. History Tanjong Pagar Park was originally launched on 21 October 2005 as a partnership between the National Parks Board and Ricoh Asia Pacific Pte Ltd, and was named Tanjong Pagar RICOH Park. The park also consisted of benches and seats installed under mature trees such as ''Cratoxylum formosum'' (Pink Mampat) and ''Pterocarpus indicus'' (Angsana). There were 17 of these benches the park which were donated by Ricoh, and were specially manufactured in Australia from recycled toner cartridges. In 2013, the park was demolished and original site of the park was used to construct Tanjong Pagar Centre. Outram Park MRT station is an underground Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) interchange station on the East West, North East and Thomson-East Coast lines located on the boundary of Bukit Merah and Outram planning areas, Singapore, near the junction of Outram Road, Eu Tong Sen Street and New Bridge Road. Raffles Place MRT station is an underground Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) interchange station on the North South Line (NSL) and East West Line (EWL) in Singapore. Located in the Downtown Core, the station is underneath Raffles Place, the centre of Singapore's financial district, south of the Singapore River. East West MRT Line
The East West line (EWL) is a high-capacity Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) line operated by SMRT in Singapore, running from Pasir Ris station in the east to Tuas Link station in the west, with an additional branch between Changi Airport and Tanah Merah stations. It is the second Mass Rapid Transit line to be built in Singapore. The line is the longest on the MRT network (this title will be given to the Cross Island line upon its complete opening by the 2040s), with 35 stations, 8 of which (from Lavender to Tiong Bahru and Changi Airport stations) are underground.
