Taming The Star Runner
''Taming the Star Runner'' (1988) is a young adult coming-of-age novel written by S. E. Hinton, author of '' The Outsiders''. Unlike her previous young adult novels, this novel has not been made into a film. Context The novel is the last of her series of novels that take place in and around her hometown of Tulsa, Oklahoma and the only one of that series written in the third-person perspective. This is also S.E. Hinton's only novel that was not made into a movie. Like her first book, ''The Outsiders'', it is implied at the end of the book that the protagonist is the actual author. In reality, many of Travis' experiences trying to publish his book parallel those of S.E. In literary criticism, a ''Bildungsroman'' (, plural ''Bildungsromane'', ) is a literary genre that focuses on the psychological and moral growth of the protagonist from childhood to adulthood ( coming of age), in which character change is important. The Outsiders (novel)
''The Outsiders'' is a coming-of-age novel by S.E. Hinton, first published in 1967 by Viking Press. Hinton was only 15 when she started writing the novel; however, she did most of the work when she was 16 and a junior in high school. Hinton was 18 when the book was published. The book details the conflict between two rival gangs divided by their socioeconomic status: the working-class " greasers" and the upper-class "Socs" (pronounced —short for ''Socials''). The story is told in first-person perspective by teenage protagonist Ponyboy Curtis. The story in the book takes place in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1965, but this is never explicitly stated in the book.
