Tales Of Terror (Tales Of Terror Album)
''Tales of Terror'' was the first and only full-length self-titled album released by Californian hardcore punk band Tales of Terror on September 1, 1984 on the label CD Presents. Background and recording Seattle pioneer grunge band Green River admired them and recognised Tales of Terror as worthy predecessors by covering one of their songs as a tribute. Local college radio stations would often play their songs, for instance "Over Elvis Worship". Reception Al Flipside reviewed ''Tales of Terror'' for '' Flipside'' in 1984. He wrote: "Mid-tempo driving grunge rock that gets pretty chaotic. I really liked their version of "Hound Dog" from the start, but it took me a while to be convinced. ''Maximumrocknroll'', often written as ''Maximum Rocknroll'' and usually abbreviated as ''MRR'', is a not-for-profit monthly zine of punk subculture. Based in San Francisco, ''MRR'' focuses on punk rock and hardcore music, and primarily features artist interviews and music reviews. Mark Arm
Mark Arm (born Mark Thomas McLaughlin; February 21, 1962) is an American singer and songwriter, best known as the vocalist for the grunge band Mudhoney. His former group, Green River, was one of the first grunge bands, along with Malfunkshun, Soundgarden, Skin Yard, the U-Men, and others. He is also the manager of the Sub Pop warehouse and previously worked at Fantagraphics Books. Early life Arm was born February 21, 1962 at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California, and was raised in Kirkland, Washington. . As a child, he was a member of Boy Scouts of America. He graduated from Bellevue Christian High School in Bellevue, Washington. In 1985, Arm earned an English degree with an emphasis in creative writing from the University of Washington. The Lucky Ones (Mudhoney Album)
''The Lucky Ones'' is the eighth studio album released by American alternative rock band Mudhoney. It was released by Sub Pop Records on May 20, 2008. Writing and recording The band has said that the album was written "from the rhythm up instead of from the riff and the lyrics down" and has also stated that it's the fastest album they made. As singer and rhythm guitarist Mark Arm has said "The effect is to thrust out the bottom-end rumble of drummer Dan Peters and bassist Guy Maddison, and to bring about a cohesive whole not entirely ruled by the almighty riff—although you certainly don’t have to look hard to find ‘em." Rather spontaneously, the veterans recorded the eleven songs found on the record in only 3.5 days, including overdubs. The ninth track on the album is titled "Tales of Terror" in honour of the Sacramento hardcore punk band Tales of Terror that influenced and inspired the grunge movement. Mudhoney
Mudhoney is an American rock band formed in Seattle, Washington, in 1988, following the demise of Green River. Its members are singer and rhythm guitarist Mark Arm, lead guitarist Steve Turner, bassist Guy Maddison and drummer Dan Peters. Original bassist Matt Lukin left the band in 1999. Mudhoney's early releases on the Sub Pop label, particularly their debut single "Touch Me I'm Sick" and the ''Superfuzz Bigmuff'' EP, were instrumental in the creation of the Grunge genre. Encina High School
Encina High School is an American 6-12 public school located in Arden-Arcade, California. It is a member of the San Juan Unified School District located on the western end of the SJUSD. While the school thrived during its early years of existence and into the 1980s, it has since suffered from low enrollment and been suggested for closure several times in its recent history. It includes the Advanced Path Program students. Richard Judge is the current high school principal; Heidi Garner and Michelle Speed act as vice principals. Alex Shumway (born December 14, 1965), known professionally as Alex Vincent, is an American musician, songwriter, and actor who is best known as the drummer for the rock band Green River. Along with Mark Arm, Steve Turner, and Jeff Ament, he is one of its founding members. He is also the founder, drummer, and songwriter for the band Ex's With Benefits; as well as a founder and guitar player for the band Thee Deception. Biography Vincent attended the Northwest School in Seattle, Washington with future bandmates Steve Turner and Stone Gossard (as well as future Presidents of the United States of America drummer, Jason Finn). He was the drummer for the band Spluii Numa and later pioneered the grunge scene as a founding member of Green River. After the disbanding of Green River in 1988, he returned to college, eventually ending up in Japan as a student of international studies at Sophia University (上智大学) in Tokyo.
