Talcher is one of the 4 sub-divisions of Angul district in the Indian state of Odisha. Cuttack–Sambalpur Line
The Cuttack–Sambalpur line is a railway line connecting the cities of Cuttack with the Sambalpur, in the Indian state of Odisha. Geography The Cuttack–Sambalpur line traverses the center of Odisha running along the river Mahanadi. Its route connects four districts of Odisha: Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Angul and Sambalpur. It connects the Mahanadi Coalfields in Talcher and Nalco in Angul to Howrah–Chennai main line in the east and Jharsuguda–Vizianagaram line in the west. It also connects Mahanadi Coalfields in Western Odisha to Talcher. History In 1922, a railway line was built from Talcher to Nergundi to connect the coalfields in Talcher to the Howrah-Chennai main line. East Coast Railway Zone
The East Coast Railway (abbreviated ECoR) is one of the 19 railway zones of Indian Railways. It came into existence on 1 April 2003. The headquarters of the zone are at Bhubaneswar, Odisha History Consequent upon the parliament's approval, East Coast Railway was the first of the seven new zones to be inaugurated by the then Prime Minister of India H. D. Deve Gowda on 8 August 1996. The Officer-on-Special Duty took over charge of the newly declared Zone on 16 September 1996. Hirakud Express
The 20807/20808 Hirakud SF Express is a tri-weekly express train which runs between Amritsar and Visakhapatnam. It passes through the cities of Delhi, Agra, Gwalior, Jhansi, Bilaspur, Sambalpur, Bhubaneswar and Brahmapur. It was initially introduced between Sambalpur and Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station (Delhi) in 1992. Later in 2002 it was extended to Bhubaneswar and thereafter up to Visakhapatnam and Amritsar in the coming years.
