was a Japanese actor. He was married to actress Etsuko Takeuchi. Life After studying acting at the Mizushina Acting Studio (from 1957), at the Gekidan Mingei Acting Class, and honing his skills at the Gekidan Seinen Geijutsu Gekijo, he joined the Gekidan Mingei Theater in 1968. He died on December 9, 2013, from pneumonia. Junji Kinoshita
was the foremost playwright of modern drama in postwar Japan. He was also a translator and scholar of Shakespeare's plays. Kinoshita’s achievements were not limited to Japan.Kinoshita, Junji. Yōji Sakate
is a contemporary Japanese playwright notable for his plays that frequently comment on social and political issues in Japan. His most prominent plays are ''The Attic'' (屋根裏 ''Yaneura'', 2002), ''Come Out'' (カムアウト ''Kamu auto'', 1989), ''Tokyo Trial'' (トーキョー裁判 ''Tōkyō saiban'', 1988), and ''Epitaph for the Whales'' (くじらの墓標 ''Kujira no bohyō'', 1993). Gekidan Mingei
The is a Japanese theatre company that stages Shingeki plays. Along with the Haiyuza Theatre Company and Bungakuza it is considered one of the "Big Three" among Shingeki theatre troupes. History Gekidan Mingei, meaning "The People's Art Theatre Company," was founded in 1950 by Jūkichi Uno, Osamu Takizawa, Tanie Kitabayashi, Hideji Ōtaki, and others. As befitted its name, one of the company's early slogans was "theatre for everyone." At the time of its formation, Gekidan Mingei had only 12 members: 11 actors and 1 director. However, it met with success, and by 1960, it had grown to comprise 119 members, including 52 actors, 13 directors, 16 administrative staff, and 39 apprentices. Kunio Shimizu
(17 November 1936 – 15 April 2021 ) was a Japanese playwright. Niigata is his hometown, which is located on the Japan Sea. At Tama University of Fine Arts Shimizu was a professor working in the Moving Images and Performing Arts Department. Life Shimizu Kunio grew up in Niigata Prefecture. His father was a policeman. As a student at Waseda University located in Tokyo Shimizu wrote ''The Signatory'' in 1958 as well as ''Tomorrow I’ll Put Flowers There'' in 1959. These plays were produced in the year 1960 by Seihai, a professional theatre company. After he finished studying at Waseda University Shimizu worked at Iwanami Film Productions, which is a Tokyo firm. There he wrote scenarios for documentaries as well as public relations films. In 1965 he went on to be an independent playwright and left the company. Somewhere around 1968 Yukio Ninagawa asked Shimizu to write a play for him to direct.
